Intuitive Bridges

Intuitive Bridges.JPG

Join Nicole Lakebrink in this three week series for Intuitive beings on Bridging the gap between the Earthly embodiment and Divine connection.

What does it mean to be a fully embodied spiritual being at this time?

How does one continue to develop their intuitive and spiritual gifts while remaining grounded?

How do you integrate divine consciousness, powerfully and simply into the everyday?

In this series we will bridge the gap between the Intuitive’s sense of their own humanness and their inner divinity.

This series requires:

  • An open mind.
  • A willing heart.
  • A sense of wonder.
  • A desire to bridge the gap between your earthly and divine existence.

Each week we will explore the Divine embodiment experience as Intuitive beings.

Intuitively guided energy healing will be provided within each class to assist you in your journey and add integration on your path.

If you are wanting to bring more light into life, while remaining connected to both your human and spiritual essence, this series is for you.

Bolsters and blankets are supplied by the studio for your comfort. Feel free to bring your yoga mat, water, and a journal to note any insights.

**Please note that it is important to hydrate before and after receiving energy healing to assist in the flow of energy.

Cost: $105 for series

Full Moon Gentle Yoga and Reiki

Full.Moon. 2.png

While moving through a gentle and restorative yoga practice, we will connect to the cycles and rhythms of our natural world and learn about the energy of this full moon. Syncing up with our universe and using astrology to thrive in everyday life is one powerful way to use mother nature to help us feel balanced and whole again. When we understand the subtle, yet powerful influences of our natural world we can harness and capture that energy to manifest what we want to bring into our lives or release and free ourselves of whatever it is that is holding us back.

A full moon may have the energy of our world feeling heightened, which may leave you feeling motivated, agitated or depleted. Each us us will have to recognize and work with the way it affects us individually and ask the questions, do the digging to help reveal the layers of who you really are. Tapping into the energy of our world, the phases of the moon and positioning of the planets are all tools each of us has to make sense of what can feel at times to be nonsensical. There is a reason, a way, a lesson here for you to uncover.

Join us each month in new moon and full moon yoga classes. Come learn about the natural rhythms and cycles of your universe, the moon's cycles, where she is energetically and how the circumstances of your life are in rhythm, all while moving through a gentle and restorative yoga practice.

Intro to Yin Yoga Workshop

Intro to Yin Yoga Workshop

IMG_0688.jpg

This quiet practice consists of long held passive postures done on the floor to enliven and create greater flexibility and vitality in the hips, legs and spine. It is a meditative and powerful form of yoga designed to balance more active yoga styles as well as activities like running, biking and weight lifting which can cause the body to become tight and inflexible.

The term yin comes from Taoist (Chinese) yoga and refers to aspects of reality more allowing and receptive to yang qualities which are more expressive and active. The practice helps to enliven parts of the body where prana or chi becomes stagnant and nurtures the meridian and organ systems or the body. It is sometimes referred to as "needleless acupuncture" because of its ability to bring balance to the energy body similar to a good acupuncture session or massage. This is due to targeting the deep connective tissues of the body which are not as accessible in a movement oriented practice where we are more interested in building and maintaining muscle tissue.

Practices of mindfulness and pranayama are woven into the practice along with insight practices drawn from Taoism and Buddhism. Students with some knowledge and practice of Hatha Yoga are invited to join - all levels are welcome.

You will take home a basic practice session to do on your own!

Cost: $25

After a few minutes of gentle poses to relieve general stiffness and discomfort, students will relax lying down for approximately 30 minutes of yoga nidra. Guided instruction will include breath attention, body scanning, and guided visualization/meditation. This practice assists in releasing mental, emotional, and physical tensions, leaving you feeling tranquil, balanced, and refreshed.

Foraging for Edible and Medicinal Herbs at Babler State Park

Join Laura for a foraging walk/hike through Babler Memorial State Park to collect edible and medicinal herbs.

As we transition from summer to fall, there are many edible and medicinal plants that are producing flowers, fruits, or nutrient-rich roots that can sustain the long drought of winter. Such plants are tremendous resources for us to care for ourselves and our loved ones, and can be preserved so that we may utilize these gifts long after they are harvested.

Join us for a botanical hike on September 22 at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park to learn how to safely identify and consciously collect some of these herbal allies. Be sure to dress comfortably for a walk through nature, including sun and insect protection. You are encouraged to bring small pruning shears or scissors, materials for note-taking and a bag for your collections. Feel free to bring a small plant identification book along too!

Plan to meet at Joy of Yoga at 8:30 and then caravan together or, you are welcome to meet us at Babler at 9:15.

Contact Laura to arrange if you would like to meet at Babler instead (920) 740-8852.

All are welcome. No experience necessary.

Laura is a botanist trained in evolutionary biology. She received her PhD and works as a local researcher. Outside of academic pursuits, she is deeply interested the natural world and human uses of plants. She is very excited to explore how to incorporate herbs into her physical, mental, and spiritual health among other plant enthusiasts.

Self Care & Essential Oils: 4 Week Series

self care and essential oils.jpg

In these 4 weeks, we will explore many different self-care practices, including the use of essential oils and ways to integrate those practices into everyday life.

The secret to a healthy, happy life is to keep your own cup full. When you fill up from the inside, it allows you to really be able to live the life you want.

Many of us are busy and stressed out, starving for something more in our life beyond the daily grind, beyond obligation and what's expected of us. We are craving more and we often gravitate to food, substances, shopping and drama to fill this need. Yet inside, we know it is not working.

Our society teaches us to care well for others- children, partners, parents, homes and jobs. We are taught the value of service to others without much regard to our own Self. Self-care is often thought of as selfish in our culture.

This 4 week program is a chance to stop, pause and tune out all the outside noise so that we can go inside and tap into our own inner wisdom. What do you need to feel more connected? We’re going to take a deep dive into natural, empowering self-care practices with a special emphasis on using essential oils to support our mental, physical, and emotional well-being and learn how to incorporate them into our daily life!

You will gain greater understanding of why self care is so important for your mental, physical and spiritual body and why you can no longer NOT care for yourself!

This series is designed to allow you to embark on a beautiful adventure of self- discovery! Get personal and curious about what you want and need and how to go about getting it. Putting yourself on the top of the to do list. No more guilt.

During this program you will learn simple, yet profound practices (including how to use essential oils) to support you in discovering more about yourself and shine from the inside out. It's designed to be a quiet space for you to breathe, relax and step outside of the burned-out, over-busy lifestyle that keeps you running further and further away from yourself.

Here is just a little of what you can expect from this series:

  • Feeling more connected and energized!
  • Have a deeper understanding of how to support your self-care with essential oils
  • Making decisions that feel good to YOU without second-guessing
  • Feeling nourished
  • Getting to know what delights your senses
  • Beginning to tap into your inner wisdom
  • Feeling empowered to put yourself on top of the to-do list!

Here is a glimpse of the program week by week:

Week 1 (Oct 2): Creating the Space for Self Care
Basic review of the stress response and impact of a lack of self- care on your mind, body and spirit. Clarify your own self-care desires. Essential oils to support feeling grounded and more calm

Week 2 (Oct 9): Sensing the Pleasures in Life
Connect with your 5 senses more fully
Identify what brings pleasure to your daily life
Strengthen (and hear!) the voice of your inner wisdom
Bring more presence and mindfulness to your daily life
Essential oils to uplift our mood

Week 3 (Oct 16): Filling Your Tank
Identify the foods and movement that nourish your body. Create your own personal nourishment menu. Recognize situations, relationships and activities that fill you and those that deplete you and how to shift towards those that fill. Essential oils for balance and wellbeing

Week 4(Oct 23): Empowering the Shift
Uncover the top barriers keeping you stuck and how to move past them for lasting Self Care
Learn how to make ongoing decisions that support how you want to feel. Acknowledge and celebrate what you have learned about yourself. Identify your next step in keeping the inner flame glowing brightly. Essential oils for clarify and focus

“Self care is never selfish, it is simply good stewardship of the gifts we have been given.” Sarah Ban Breathnach-Simple Abundance

Yin Yoga Basics

IMG_0680.jpg

Yin yoga is a wonderful antidote to busyness and the perfect compliment for an overextended lifestyle!

In this 4 class series we will explore the basic tenets and concepts of Yin yoga, a quiet practice consisting of long held postures done on the floor to enliven the hips, legs and spine to create greater flexibility and vitality in those areas.

We will have the opportunity to cool and calm (yin) overworked and overheated aspects of ourselves and bring the body into balance. The practice originated in Taoist martial arts and is designed to balance active yang yoga styles and athletics so practictioners can stay fluid and flexible as well as strong!

This practice is open to everyone regardless of experience.

Cost: $15 drop-in (no class cards) or $50 for all four classes

21 Day Sugar Detox

This detox will be designed for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters!

Session Dates: 10/13, 10/20, and 10/27, 9:30am - 11:30am

Would you like to reset your eating habits? We know that losing weight and being healthier isn’t about simply about eliminating sugar, it’s about how you skillfully replace it. This is your chance to give your body a vacation from sugar, carbs and processed foods.

If you find yourself constantly pin-balling between hunger, eating and then hunger again, refined carbs and sugar may be part of the reason. Pastas, bread, chips and Oreos are all packed with calories and sugar and offer little fiber or real nutritional benefit. Studies have proven that when you consume sugar and refined carbs your body can’t use it is turned into fat. Not to mention, sugar is SUPER addictive. Worst of all, it's known to show up in foods you don’t expect and with names that only a scientist would recognize.

The good news is the longer sugar is out of your system the less you will crave it.

The first class will begin on October 13th from 9:30-10:30am. Two supplemental and optional classes will be held on the subsequent Saturdays and will cover topics like digestion, how to boost your immune system, and how to start adding healthy sugars back into your daily life. Most importantly, each week you will be supported by your fellow students and come home with new recipes and new ideas. The final class will celebrate your success and discuss how to incorporate all that’s been learned so that you are well prepared to stay healthy for the rest of the year.

Every student that registers will also be given a 30 minute one-on-one Nutritional Coaching session with April at an agreed upon date.

$145 for 3 weeks.

Reiki Training Level I: Self Healing

Reiki Training Level I: Self Healing

reiki.jpg

A new session of Traditional Usui Reiki training Level 1 will begin at Joy Of Yoga on October 17 (no class on Oct 31).

Reiki is a powerful healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered through the hands and is based on the knowledge that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and keeps us alive and well. When we're not feeling well, it can be caused by blockages in our flow of energy energy that become clogged or stagnant causing us to feel sick, imbalanced, overly emotional or stressed. Reiki works to clear and balance the energies of the body, bringing about profound physical, emotional, and spiritual changes in a person’s life. Reiki I is about self-healing and practitioners learn the basics of Reiki Healing.

During this 4-week course we will learn:

-The background and history of Reiki
-Basic Energy Healing concepts (what is energy? energy healing? auras? chakras? meridians?)
-How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)
-How to use Reiki to heal oneself
-How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)
-Other fun and helpful uses for Reiki I healing

Through the Reiki attunement process (passed on from teacher to student) the student is given access to this powerful vibration of energy healing.

The Reiki attunement will give participants the following:

+ Promote Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Healing
+ Soothe the Central Nervous System and Reduces Stress
+ More Energy
+ Better Sleep
+ Gives us opportunities for growth and Spiritual Development
+ Clears the Mind and Improves Focus
+ Assists the body in cleansing itself from toxins and
+ Supports the immune system
+ Promotes an Overall Sense of Harmony and Balance

Reiki I can be used on ourselves, children, loved ones, animals, the food you eat, your crystals, a room, a situation, anything. We can even send Reiki to help heal people and communities in different parts of the world.

Who can learn Reiki?

* Anyone who wants to practice self-care
* Those who want to begin or further their spiritual development
* Anyone who experiences a lot of stress, anxiety, chronic pain, physical ailments/illness, spiritual blocks, or is around intense/negative energy
* Those who want to help heal animals

What makes this course different than other Reiki Trainings?

* We allow more time to learn the information, practice, integrate the knowledge and adjust to the new vibration of energy. Many Reiki First Degree courses are taught all at once in one weekend, individually, or in 3 1-hour sessions, leaving minimal time to process the new information, ask questions, or receive guidance and additional feedback. This course is spread out over 4 weeks, and equals a total of 8 hours of training, so that at the end of the training all Reiki I practitioners feel confident in their ability to use Reiki energy to heal themselves and others.

* A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on practice. Students receive hours of experience in class and homework is given to practice between sessions.

* You will receive support in integrating this new Reiki energy. Receiving an attunement can bring up mild physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual shifts, that can at times feel uncomfortable or overwhelming. This is happening because your vibration is shifting, and you are releasing old habits and patterns that no longer resonate with your new vibration. The attunement is given during the 2nd class, so that students have support built into the class as they adjust to the new energy.

We emphasize spiritual growth and Reiki healing as a life-long pursuit, and provide many additional handouts, websites, organizations, and other resources for Reiki 1 students to access along the way. We also provide individual feedback and guidance throughout the training program.

Upon completing this training, you will have been trained in Traditional Usui Reiki First Degree (Reiki I), and receive your Reiki I attunement and certificate as a Traditional Usui First Degree Practitioner.

After completion of this course, you will have a strong foundation in Reiki healing. If you would like to further your self-healing and personal growth with Reiki, you can continue onto Reiki II, to be held in September/October and throughout the year!

If orienting yourself towards more balance and peace in your life is something you want, this training is for you!

Introduction to Ayurveda: The Science of Life

ayurveda.jpg

Join Joy for this information session where we'll dive into this deep and ancient pool of wisdom. Ayurveda is the sister science to Yoga and is translated as the 'Science of Life'. It has been used over the last 5000 years in India to create balance and health in body, mind and spirit. We will learn our Ayurvedic Prakriti or Dosha (vata, pitta or kapha?) and learn Ayurvedic practices and foods for balancing your dosha.

According to Ayurveda, the goal is not just a high functioning physical body, but a mind and spirit to match. As we accumulate stress in our modern lives, we get tired and our digestion slows down, we battle mood, our energy wanes, aging and a multitude of physical ailments keep us from realizing our spiritual nature. The body becomes dense, heavy and non-responsive tethering us to a dull state of being and thinking. We will learn ways to lighten the load, feel energized and whole.

Much of the information widely accepted in Ayurveda for thousands of years has only very recently been proven by modern science! The ancient seers and rishis were so attuned to their physical bodies it is truly astounding to contemplate how they could have been so acutely aware of the most subtle aspects of being. Their knowledge will amaze you!

The goal of Ayurveda is to remove the density of the physical body and restore optimal physical health so that we can gain mental and spiritual clarity. Joy and equanimity is our birthright! Feeling good is something each of us has access to each and every day.

Learn some very simple and accessible ways you can begin to incorporate this ancient wisdom into your everyday life and reorient yourself toward feeling light, free and connected!

A new session of Traditional Usui Reiki training Level 1 will begin at Joy Of Yoga January 4th, Fridays, 6-8pm.

During this 4-week course we will learn:

  • The background and history of Reiki
  • Basic Energy Healing concepts (what is energy? energy healing? auras? chakras? meridians?)
  • How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)
  • How to use Reiki to heal oneself
  • How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)
  • Other fun and helpful uses for Reiki I healing

Reiki I is about self-healing and practitioners learn the basics of Reiki Healing.
Through the Reiki attunement process (passed on from teacher to student) we activate healing on every level.

Reiki I can be used on children, loved ones, animals, the food you eat, your crystals, a room, anything. We can even send Reiki to people and communities in different parts of the world.

During this 4-week course we will learn:
- The background and history of Reiki
- Basic Energy Healing concepts (what is energy? energy healing? auras? chakras? meridians?)
- How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)
- How to use Reiki to heal oneself
- How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)
- Other fun and helpful uses for Reiki I healing

And, of course, you will receive your Reiki Attunement!

If orienting yourself towards more balance and peace in your life is something you want, this training is for you!

21 Day Sugar Detox

29684196_1389472714529805_7978724239621907081_n.jpg

This detox will be designed for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters!

Session Dates: 1/5, 1/12, and 1/19, 9:30am-11:30am

The first class will begin on January 5th from 9:30-10:30am.

Introduction to Mindfulness Series

IMG_4191.jpg

This 4-week course is a perfect way to start your mindfulness practice. As someone in a past session shared, "It's the single most powerful tool I've ever used to implement change in my life."

Mindfulness is a self-empowering, simple and practical way to help you be your best self more often. Over the last decade, mindfulness has gone from being perceived as a "woo woo" practice to an increasingly mainstream tool espoused in corporations across the globe. Finally now modern neuroscience can support what mindfulness practitioners have known for thousands of years - that mindfulness meditation physically develops our brain's capacity to be more compassionate, calm, happy and focused.

In this series you will learn practices to:

Develop your self-awareness and Emotional Intelligence

Wake up from the trance of thought to the life that is here

Develop acceptance of yourself just as you are

Work with difficult emotions and stress

Create space to shift from habitual negative reactions to responses that align with your values

Develop empathy and compassion

Communicate mindfully

Cultivate inner strength, calm and joy in your life

Each class will include a combination of a lecture, practices and group discussion. To fully benefit from the course, you will also want to commit to engaging in at least 15 minutes of daily home practice on non-class days. You will be provided suggested resources for your benefit.

Cost: $100 for the series.

The Artist’s Way: A Course in Discovering and Recovering Your Creative Self

The Artist’s Way: A Course in Discovering and Recovering Your Creative Self

ArtistsWay-500x219.jpg

This class is for anyone who wants to express their creativity; as an entrepreneur or business person, parent, teacher, writer, sculptor, painter, photographer, actor, dancer or administrator. It is a potentially life-changing experience, both for those interested in the arts AND for those desiring to enhance their creativity in any area of life. You will learn techniques to access personal creativity, move past creative blocks, and to trust in your innate creative intuition.

During the twelve-week course, we will work with the Artist's Way book and Workbook. Author, Julia Cameron, offers practical tools to recover a sense of safety, identity, power and faith. Class facilitator and certified Theta Healer, Melanie Klug, will offer weekly meditations and visualizations to help identify and clear beliefs that block our path to Creativity.

While this work can be done individually using the book at home, there is a definite advantage to doing this work as part of a group. The bonding between class members strengthens each participant's resolve, reinforces individual learning, and most importantly, the group members hold each other accountable in very creative ways.

Whether you are an Artist with the creative wind knocked out of you and need a place to catch your breath or someone just learning to walk in your creative feet, The Artist's Way is your personal laboratory.

“What you are doing each week is creating pathways in your consciousness through which the creative forces can operate. Once you agree to clearing these pathways, your creativity emerges. Higher Powers stand ready to help if we ask.” - Julia Cameron

Artists are Visionaries. Art is an act of faith we practice. The Artist’s Way is a spiritual path to Higher Creativity.

Yoga Teacher Training 2019

Joy and Jill Teacher Training.jpg

Wildwood Yoga and Joy of Yoga will be conducting a 200HR Registered Yoga Teacher Training and Immersion for anyone wanting to become a certified yoga teacher or those that would like to immerse themselves into their physical practice and understanding of yoga's history, philosophy and practical application in today's world.

What makes this Yoga Teacher Training distinctive is its ability to draw from a wide spectrum of yoga practices, philosophies and techniques. This training promises to deliver intellectually stimulating content, physically empowering practices, and spiritual connection through the cultivation of a daily sadhana practice. Physical strength and flexibility are not requirements to be a yoga teacher. The desire to better yourself and those around you are the requirements for this training.

This training is design to connect you to your inner teacher and guide. This is not a set of prescribed sequences that must be delivered with prescribed speech. It is a map to lead you to that inner wisdom and voice of the teacher within. Intuition, creativity, connection and thoughtful application are the cornerstones of the knowledge and teaching methods you will gain. Teachers will be asked to be accountable and to know why they are designing their classes with a specific sequence of poses, knowing that there is never just one way or one response, but that there is always an authentic and intuitive approach.

As a yoga teacher, we continuously put ourselves again and again in the seat of a student enabling us to hold more compassion and understanding for our students and continuously educating ourselves on the new ideas, fresh perspectives of the Yogic Teachings. Teaching yoga is a great responsibility, one that must be held in the highest regard. To be a yoga teacher is to be a 'Mitra', a friend to all of humanity. We are all a part of the great tree of life.

Regardless of where you find yourself in your yoga practice, this training will transform each of us on every level. Welcome to your brand new beginning!

A few reviews on Yoga Alliance from our recent graduates:

"Joy and Jill have poured their hearts and shared wealth of knowledge into this RYT200 training and as a result the program they have created is truly excellent. There are so many compliments I could leave here, but perhaps most relevant is that I believe they have left all of us who completed the program feeling fully prepared to teach and teach well. Beyond the practical, these incredible women have designed a journey full of love, community, kindness, and self-realization through the close study and practice of the ancient tradition of yoga." -Andrea

"Joy and Jill have an incredibly deep well of knowledge and experience that they were so willing to share with my training class, and they brought amazing outside resources to us to round out our learning. For 10 weekends, through their words, their energy, their love of yoga and teaching, Joy and Jill provided a truly supportive space where I learned so much more than just philosophy, alignment, anatomy, meditation, and breath work: they helped me find my voice and the confidence to take it out into the world. The training Joy and Jill have put together will give you so much more than you could hope to expect." -Lindsay

I cannot say enough amazing things about this 200 HR-RYT program!! Joy and Jill are some of the most loving, big-hearted, gifted, smart & capable women that I know. This program will deepen your practice physically, mentally and emotionally. They provide vast knowledge to the trainees on the history and philosophy of yoga; trainees leave this program with a rich, well-rounded foundation to begin their yoga teacher journey. Joy and Jill provide such a safe, nurturing environment that encourages everyone to reach their full potential. You will feel cherished and loved throughout this intense journey. You will finish the 10 months of this journey a much stronger individual. Your heart will be opened, your mind expanded, and your body so well prepared to engage your students in a rich yoga practice. Joy and Jill do a wonderful job of teaching alignment, but more importantly, they share great insight on how to develop a keen eye as you watch your students to see what cues need to be given. They teach you that every body is different, and while alignment is important, it will look and feel differently for each individual. They teach you to see the beauty first and then to provide the guidance that will enable your student to blossom to her/his best self. I am so grateful to Joy and Jill; they have helped shape my entire teacher prospective. I feel so confident in the foundation they so generously offered. I would recommend this program to every aspiring yogi. It will change your life. -Colleen

New Moon Gentle Yoga and Reiki

33f18723cdba57aa4cdb28aa058445f2.jpg

While moving through a gentle and restorative yoga practice, we will connect to the cycles and rhythms of our natural world and learn about the energy of this full moon. Syncing up with our universe and using astrology to thrive in everyday life is one powerful way to use mother nature to help us feel balanced and whole again. When we understand the subtle, yet powerful influences of our natural world we can harness and capture that energy to manifest what we want to bring into our lives or release and free ourselves of whatever it is that is holding us back.

A new moon may have the energy of our world feeling more subdued and internal, which may leave you feeling aligned and clear, or depleted. Above all else, the new moon is a potent time to connect with our seeds of intention. What are we aligning with in life? And how can we use the new moon energy to help us see even more clearly how beter to do this.

Each us us will have to recognize and work with the way it affects us individually and ask the questions, do the digging to help reveal the layers of who you really are and what our individual purpose is. Tapping into the energy of our world, the phases of the moon and positioning of the planets are all tools each of us has to make sense of what can feel at times to be nonsensical. There is a reason, a way, a lesson here for you to uncover.

Join us each month in new moon and full moon gentle yoga and reiki classes. Come learn about the natural rhythms and cycles of your universe, the moon's cycles, where she is energetically and how the circumstances of your life are in rhythm, all while moving through a gentle and restorative yoga practice.

Mindful Parenting

hand-tree-parent.jpg

Join Ashley the first Thursday of every month for Mindful Parenting. We will create a sacred space for sharing wisdom and experience, honoring our celebrations, and finding our way through the messiness of parenting.

Ashley is an occupational therapist, lymphedema specialist, certified holistic lifestyle coach and Pilates instructor. Her favorite credentials are that of mom and wife. She has 2 beautiful children; a 16 month-old son and an angel baby daughter, born still at birth.

"My tribe is my inspiration. As an OT, I have experience with children, having worked in the St. Louis School District (pre-K to 8th grade) with focus on sensory integration, fine and gross motor, environment modification and developmental play. Currently, I work in the hospital setting, where I complete movement and self care assessments. I enjoy a holistic approach to health, using education as an empowerment tool for enhanced well-being. I find peace in practicing the arts of stillness, compassion and love.”

Loving our children IS enough! We will explore parenting from another angle, staying in the present moment amidst the fears and risks, learning to trust yourself, and finding the joy in all of it.

We will share stories. We will rewrite stories. We will build a community of parents looking for love and joy within the most sacredness calling- parenting.

[Join us for this beginners' class offered in Spanish. This class is designed to align the body with the mind through movement and breath. Students will learn basic yoga postures and the importance of mindful breathing. The attention to connection between the internal and external are tools that students can take into their daily life.]

Jazmin is a Puerto Rican native and St. Louis transplant. Often caught in two cultures throughout college, Jazmin noticed a lack of connection throughout the Latin American community. Her own desire for a better connection to her self allowed Jazmin to discover yoga as a wellness tool. After completing her 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2017 through Yoga Buzz, Jazmin saw the need for Spanish-speaking taught yoga that would both complement and empower her community. Jazmin hopes to work within the Latin American community to facilitate connection, understanding, and commitment to the mission of yoga for all!

You can use your class card or purchase a drop-in to attend.

Reiki Training Level I: Healing Yourself

36303059_1479680488842360_762338097831608320_o.jpg

A new session of Traditional Usui Reiki training Level 1 will begin at Joy Of Yoga July 20th, Fridays 12-2pm!

Conscious Parenting

parent-talking-to-teenager.jpg

Join us for support in raising your teen!

In this class, we will explore false beliefs about parenting and what the world tells us makes us a "good" parent. We will explore ways to connect with our inner wisdom to validate what we know to be true about these false beliefs (ex-The world tells us: my child must get good grades and get into a good college. Our inner wisdom tells us that the essence of who our child is has always been enough and will always be enough. His/her path may not mirror ours, and that is fine.)

Class will end with simple breathing techniques to connect and calm yourself outside of class. We'll also offer time for you to articulate in your journal your desires for your relationship with your teens.

Above all, this class offers you a space to feel heard and know that you are not alone. Plan to leave empowered by your ability to connect with your desires for your relationship with your teen.

Class is based on the book, "The Conscious Parent" by Shefali Tsabary

Unlock Your Second Brain Series

Unlock Your Second Brain Series

When you think of your intuition, you might immediately go to your Third Eye. Yes, and while this is an important space for your guidance system, a large component of your intuition is in your belly. Your amazing, fantastic, wonderful belly. This is your gut instinct. When you have a gut reaction and feel it in your stomach. Your belly is your second brain. It will tell you if an important decision is right for you, what and how much you want to eat, and much more. Your belly is another space you can utilize to guide you more easily through life if you are listening to it.

Unfortunately, through societal norms and expectations, most of us have disconnected from our bellies and our second brain completely. This lack of communication causes us to miss out on many important signals and messages throughout the day.

In this 3-week series, we will utilize the tools of meditation and gentle yoga to reconnect to our bodies and bellies. After completing the series, you will feel more connected to your belly and will have a better understanding of your body and its messages. You will experience more love and appreciation for your stomach and you will gain tools and tips to support you in listening to your belly to help make decisions from your second brain.

If you want to experience more love for your belly and body and ease and clarity when making decisions, this series is for you.

Week 1 - The Importance of Your Gut
Week 2 - Listen to Your Stomach
Week 3 - Show Your Belly Love

Cost: $65 for series.

Mindful Eating: A 4-Week Series

mindful-eating 2.jpg

Start your journey to your best-self with a bold statement: I don't want another diet.

Would you like to gain a whole new perspective on your relationship with food? Food (and the guilt/shame/rules that we have around it) take up mental space. This "diet mentality" creates mental, emotional and physical patterns ruled by anxiety and fear. Yes, food is our body’s fuel, but it is so much more. It gives us energy, affects our moods, and influences our relationship with ourselves and others. It is interwoven into our lives in every way.

Previously offered as a stand-alone workshop, this four-week series will delve deeper into the 4 Mindset Shifts that you need to ditch those negative behavior patterns and lead you toward your true vibrancy! Prior class attendance is not necessary.

The first class will begin on July 16th from 6:00 to 7:00pm. The following three classes will be held on the subsequent Mondays.

Every student that registers will also be given a 30 minute one-on-one Nutritional Coaching session with April at an agreed upon date.

Mindful Parenting

parentingclass2.jpg

Reiki Training Level I: 4 Week Series

30581764_1394371260706617_6864405698143322112_n.jpg

A new session of Traditional Usui Reiki training Level 1 will begin at Joy Of Yoga Jun 6, 6-8pm!

During this 4-week course we will learn:

-The background and history of Reiki

-Basic Energy Healing concepts (what is energy? energy healing? auras? chakras? meridians?)

-How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)

-How to use Reiki to heal oneself

-How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)

-Other fun and helpful uses for Reiki I healing

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a powerful healing technique, that can help to bring about profound physical, emotional, and spiritual changes in a person’s life. Reiki I practitioners learn the basics of Reiki Healing, as well as how to perform self-healing and heal friends/family members and animals. You will learn basics of clearing energy in rooms, food, crystals and other objects. Each Reiki Attunement increases the person’s energy vibration, allowing for more profound healing abilities.

Who can learn Reiki?

Anyone who wants to practice self-care

Those who want to begin or further their spiritual development

Anyone who experiences a lot of stress, anxiety, chronic pain, physical ailments/illness, spiritual blocks, or is around intense/negative energy

Those who want to help heal animals

What makes this course different than other Reiki Trainings?

We allow more time to learn the information, practice, and integrate the knowledge and adjust to the new vibration of energy.

A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on practice. Students receive hours of experience in class and homework is given to practice between sessions.

You will receive support in integrating this new vibration of energy. Receiving an attunement can bring up mild physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual shifts, that can at times feel uncomfortable or overwhelming. This is happening because your vibration is increasing, and you are releasing old habits and patterns that no longer resonate with your new vibration. The attunement is given during the 2nd class, so that students have support built into the class as they adjust to the new energy.

Additional Resources for Spiritual Development & Reiki Healing.

Attendance to each session is required to receive Reiki I certificate.

After completion of this course, you will have a strong foundation in Reiki healing. If you would like to further your self-healing and personal growth with Reiki, you can continue onto Reiki II, to be held in July/August and throughout the year!

Wisdom of Balance

Do you ever wonder what it would be like to feel less scattered, fragmented and stressed? To move through your busy life with more flow and ease? If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed out or even apathetic, chances are you are experiencing imbalance. Often when we think about not having balance in our life, we immediately think of external circumstances like how much or little time we have, our workload, what others are or are not doing, etc.. While all these external factors impact our sense of feeling balanced, in order to get to the source of the imbalance we need to turn our attention deeper to our MindBodySpirit connection.

The interconnectedness of our mind, body and spirit occurs in a subtle realm. Often it is challenging to get in touch with ourselves at a subtle level. Themind, body and spirit are all made of and interconnected with one thing-Energy. Everything in this universe is made of energy, including us! We keep trying to manipulate the outside world to make things more balanced and enjoyable. We push and pull, change our schedule, our weight, our job, our relationships, drink more wine, or buy more things all in hopes of finding that internal, yet illusive feeling of peace and balance we desire.

And it NEVER works for long. As most of us experience in life, no matter what we seem to do, there is always SOMETHING going on that causes friction, stress or some level of tension in our life. Often we feel we are repeating the same darn story over and over just with new people.

If you are finally ready to make a lasting shift in how you experience your life, the fastest and most lasting way is to understand, connect and work with your own energy. It is the source of all that exists.

Join Mary Shackelford, Holistic Registered Nurse and Certified Bioenergetic Practitioner, for this four session series focused on understanding bioenergetics and explore how to work with your own energy to begin to experience the life you've always wanted.

The practices we'll learn will support your physical, mental and Spirit body.

After attending you will:

-Gain a deeper understanding of your own energy field

-Learn practical, easy practices you can add into your daily life to make the shifts you desire

-Learn how to create your own practice to help you sustain what you learn

Cost: $80 for series

About Keri:
Keri, a Saint Louis based yogi, teacher and life coach found her yoga practice in 2007. In the beginning yoga was simply an outlet for stress and a much needed change from her fast-paced career and lifestyle. It wasn’t long until she realized that the practice was moving off of her mat and starting to transform her life. Keri became clear that yoga had become her calling, her dharma. In 2012 she took the plunge from corporate America to full time yogi and devoted all of her time to studying, practicing and teaching. Keri is a 500-hr RYT specializing yoga therapy, psychology, and neuroscience.

Her classes are spiritual in nature and are designed to have a strong emphasis on the mind, body and breath connection. Keri’s classes are challenging, heartfelt, fun and allow for greater physical and spiritual development. You will breathe, stretch, strengthen, explore, let-go and tap into that divine light that lies within.
