Join Joy for a simple, quiet and contemplative Yin practice this Wednesday night. Yin yoga works deeply, it targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues. Connective tissue is made up of ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia network of the body.

A Yin yoga class consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly focus on the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and lower back. These areas are especially rich in connective tissue. During the asanas, muscles are relaxed to avoid muscle spasm.

Calms and balances the mind and body into a deeper state of relaxation

The Empowered Empath Support Group is a healing space for people who identify as Empaths or otherwise sensitive to the energy of others & the world around them.

Not sure if you fit this description, but feeling a little overwhelmed about world events, others' problems, or the future? Then this group is definitely for you!

Many people who are sensitive to energy can become easily overwhelmed without energy-managing techniques. As a result, many unbalanced energy-sensitive individuals struggle socially, physically, emotionally, or mentally. Mismanaged energy can lead to physical illness, relationship problems, or mental health issues.

Many empaths and others sensitive to energy also feel isolated and alone, which is one of the main reasons the Empowered Empath Support Group was created!

In addition to learning concepts and techniques for managing energy, the empowered empath support group is also a space for group members to give and receive support to one another about topics and questions related to being sensitive to energy.

Although it can feel like a burden, it is a gift to be sensitive to energy! We are here to help bring awareness to the world around us. In the Empowered Empath, you can learn ways to clear, rebalance, and enjoy your ability to be sensitive to energy.

The Empowered Empath Support Group meets monthly at Joy of Yoga; the cost is $20/person per group.

The Empowered Empath Support Group is facilitated by Sarah Buehner, who, in addition to identifying as an Empath, Highly Sensitive Person, and Indigo, is also a practicing energy healer, psychic/medium, and mental health counselor. Sarah has experience balancing her own energy, as well as guiding others to balance themselves through her work as a healer and counselor.

Our next New Moon will be in Sagittarius, the 9th house of the Zodiac. This is the house of higher knowledge, philosophy, religion, adventure, travel, expansion and the internal quest. Sagittarius is mutable fire. Mutable signs are fluid and tricky to hold onto. The purpose of the mutable signs is to give way to new possibility with the willingness to release the old. Mutable signs are open to the messiness of life and highly adaptable for something new to be born. What perfect energy to initiate us into this new moon cycle!


Sagittarius can be seen as the wise one, no longer invested in personal acclaim nor seeking to be on the pedestal of praise, her living wisdom is her primary resource and guide. It doesn't matter what others think of her. As Krishna says to Arjuna (the great archer) "to live for the praise is to die for the blame". She knows that the same people who praise her may be the same ones to condemn her. There is a release of attachment to external validation and a pure force of aiming for the Highest Embodied Truth of Existence.

Come out and explore the energies of this new moon within yourself, your relationships and your life. Learn about the natural rhythms and cycles of your universe, the moon's cycles, where she is energetically and how the circumstances of your life are in rhythm, all while moving through a fluid yoga practice.

Yoga Nidra by Candlelight

Join Alicia for 3 Wednesdays only, 7-8pm. 

Yoga Nidra is a state between waking and sleeping, it is a practice passed down by ancient yogis as a means to dive into the subconscious and deepen inner awareness. Regular practice can boost creativity, shift responses to stress, regulate circadian rhythms, and offer blissful meditative oneness with the body, mind, and broader states of consciousness.

After a few minutes of gentle poses to relieve general stiffness and discomfort, students will relax lying down for approximately 30 minutes of yoga nidra. Guided instruction will include breath attention, body scanning, and guided visualization/meditation. This practice assists in releasing mental, emotional, and physical tensions, leaving you feeling tranquil, balanced, and refreshed.

This 4 week series will be an introduction to yoga for bigger bodies. Regardless of your body size, shape or flexibility, Yoga will meet you exactly where you are on your journey to happiness and well-being. Yoga creates a positive mind space so you can accept and embrace the beautiful capable body you live in. Learn to move freely with confidence by letting go of the question “How should my body look in this pose?” and start connecting to your inner awareness so you can ask yourself “How does my body feel in this pose?"

In this 4 part series, Bryna and Alison will teach you how to modify basic yoga postures to support your unique body by using the available props provided in any yoga studio. They will teach multiple variations for each posture, showing you how to make yoga safe and comfortable for your specific body type. You will learn how to connect to your body without judgement in a supportive and compassionate community of like bodied people.

We will integrate our movements with breathing exercises to empower you to move with confidence and purpose. Learn to cultivate patience for yourself while strengthening and stretching your muscles at your pace. We will take the time to personally assist each student for maximum comfort and encourage each practitioner to find their own expression in each yoga pose. This is an interactive workshop where we will have conversations about body positivity and self love. You will leave this class with a deeper appreciation of your body and all it can do, basic knowledge of yoga terms, postures, breath work, body awareness, meditation and the ability to make yoga work for you in any yoga class.

Level 1 Reiki training will begin at Joy Of Yoga in January! Traditional Usui Reiki 1 classes start January 9 and will be held on Tuesday nights 6-8pm through February 13, 2018.

Join us for this 8-week course where we will learn:

-The background and history of Reiki

-Basic Energy Healing concepts (what is energy? energy healing? auras? chakras? meridians?)

-How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)

-How to use Reiki to heal oneself

-How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)

-Other fun and helpful uses for Reiki I healing

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a powerful healing technique, that can help to bring about profound physical, emotional, and spiritual changes in a person’s life. Reiki I practitioners learn the basics of Reiki Healing, as well as how to perform self-healing and heal friends/family members and animals. You will learn basics of clearing energy in rooms, food, crystals and other objects. Each Reiki Attunement increases the person’s energy vibration, allowing for more profound healing abilities.

Who can learn Reiki?

-Anyone who wants to practice radical self-care

-Anyone who experiences a lot of stress, anxiety, chronic pain, physical ailments/illness, spiritual blocks, or is around intense/negative energy

-Those who want to help heal animals

What makes this course different than other Reiki Trainings?

*We allow more time to learn the information, practice, and integrate the knowledge and adjust to the new vibration of energy. Many Reiki First Degree courses are taught all at once in one weekend, individually, or in 3 1-hour sessions, leaving minimal time to process the new information, ask questions, or receive guidance and additional feedback. This course is spread out over 8 weeks, and equals a total of 12 hours of training, so that at the end of the training all Reiki I practitioners feel confident in their ability to use Reiki energy to heal themselves and others.

*A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on practice. Students receive hours of experience in class and homework is given to practice between sessions.

*You will receive support in integrating this new vibration of energy. Receiving an attunement can bring up mild physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual shifts, that can at times feel uncomfortable or overwhelming. This is happening because your vibration is increasing, and you are releasing old habits and patterns that no longer resonate with your new vibration. The attunement is given during the 3rd or 4th class, so that students have support built into the class as they adjust to the new energy.

*Additional support from an experienced healer/private practice provider. Sarah integrates additional skills and knowledge from her years as a psychotherapist, running a private practice, and from her experience as a practicing psychic/medium and Reiki Practitioner/Master.

*Additional Resources for Spiritual Development & Reiki Healing. Sarah emphasizes spiritual growth and Reiki healing as a life-long pursuit, and provides many additional handouts, websites, organizations, and other resources for Reiki 1 students to access along the way. Sarah also provides individual feedback and guidance throughout the training program.

Upon completing this training, you will have been trained in Traditional Usui Reiki First Degree (Reiki I), and receive your Reiki I attunement and certificate as a Traditional Usui First Degree Practitioner. Attendance to each session is required to receive Reiki I certificate.

After completion of this course, you will have a strong foundation in Reiki healing. If you would like to pursue a career in Reiki, or you would like to further your self-healing and personal growth with Reiki, you can continue onto Reiki II, to be held later this Fall/Winter!

The Empowered Empath Support Group is a healing space for people who identify as Empaths or otherwise sensitive to the energy of others & the world around them.

Not sure if you fit this description, but feeling a little overwhlemed about world events, others' problems, or the future? Then this group is definitely for you!

Many people who are sensitive to energy can become easily overwhelmed without energy-managing techiques. As a result, many unbalanced energy-sensitive individuals struggle socially, physically, emotionally, or mentally. Mismanaged energy can lead to physical illness, relationship problems, or mental health issues.

Many empaths and others sensitive to energy also feel isolated and alone, which is one of the main reasons the Empowered Empath Support Group was created!

In addition to learning concepts and techniques for managing energy, the empowered empath support group is also a space for group members to give and receive support to one another about topics and questions related to being sensitive to energy.

Although it can feel like a burden, it is a gift to be sensitive to energy! We are here to help bring awareness to the world around us. In the Empowered Empath, you can learn ways to clear, rebalance, and enjoy your ability to be sensitive to energy.

The Empowered Empath Support Group meets monthly at Joy of Yoga; the cost is $20/person per group.

The Empowered Empath Support Group is facilitated by Sarah Buehner, who, in addition to identifying as an Empath, Highly Sensitive Person, and Indigo, is also a practicing energy healer, psychic/medium, and mental health counselor. We are a nation of stressed out people starving for something more in our life beyond the daily grind, beyond what's expected of us. We are craving more and we often gravitate to food, substances and drama to fill this need. Yet inside, we know it is not working.

Our society teaches us to care well for others--- children, partners, parents, homes and jobs. We are taught the value of service to others without much regard to our own Self. Self-care is often thought of as selfish in our culture.

This 4 week program is a chance to stop, pause and tune out all the outside noise so that we can go inside and tap into our own inner wisdom. What you need to feel more connected? We’re going to take a deep dive into self-care and learn how to live SelFULL! You will gain greater understanding of why self care is so important for your mental, physical and spiritual body and why you can no longer NOT care for yourself!

Just thinking about self-care may even bring up feelings of being selfish…AND, be assured living SelFULL is not about being self-centered or abandoning others in our life. Just the opposite really. It’s about knowing yourself deeply and nourishing yourself deeply, so when you do step out in the world, gather with your family, friends, co-workers and community, you are bringing your FULL self and all the wonderfulness that is you!

The bottom line is that you cannot give what you don’t have. If you feel depleted and flat, there is no way you can come to your relationships with your spouse, your kids, your friends or to your work with high energy and joy.

This series is designed to allow you to embark on a beautiful adventure of self discovery! Get personal and curious about what you want and need and how to go about getting it. Putting yourself on the top of the to do list. No more guilt.

During this program you will learn simple, yet profound practices to support you in discovering more about yourself and to really being to live filled up from the inside out. Joy Of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga will be conducting a 200HR RYT Training and Immersion for anyone wanting to become a certified yoga teacher or those that would like to deepen their physical practice and understanding of yoga's history, philosophy and practical application in today's world.

Joy Page and Jill Dunlap co-created the hatha based curriculum that will be the basis for this training. The curriculum emphasizes alignment, anatomy, philosophy and meditation.

Yin Yoga is a quiet and simple practice. Yin yoga works deeply, it targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues. Connective tissue is made up of ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia network of the body.

A Yin yoga class consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly focus on the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and lower back. These areas are especially rich in connective tissue. During the asanas, muscles are relaxed to avoid muscle spasm, which could result from engaging muscles for long periods.

An Introduction to Yoga Nidra

Our current human pace fragments us between work, projects, and an ever-growing to-do list. When we do try to relax, we often power nap, switch on the TV, or dissociate in other ways to escape the pressures of life. This is not true relaxation, and can actually cause our restlessness to fester into an uglier problem than before. Yoga nidra calls us to be still, combats the layers of unrest within our bodies and minds, and aids us in releasing the burdens we’ve carried throughout our lifetimes.

A state between waking and sleeping, yoga nidra is a practice passed down by yogis of old as a means to dive into the subconscious and deepen inner awareness. By withdrawing the senses and connecting with one’s surroundings only through listening, students are led through a process of progressive relaxation.

One hour of yoga nidra is equal to four hours of conventional sleep. However, this practice is not an invitation to sleep. Instead, it is an opportunity to connect to the subconscious by fully relaxing while maintaining one point of awareness. This practice allows us to let go of tensions built up in the body, mind, and spirit, and moves us into a state of self-healing. Yoga nidra supports us in picking up the scattered pieces of the self, and elevates us to a place of harmony, tranquility, and renewal.

This workshop will begin with a brief history of yoga nidra practices and its benefits as backed by ancient texts and neuroscience. Students will then be led through simple and gentle movements to release general stiffness and discomfort, and experience 30 minutes of guided relaxation in yoga nidra. As time allows, there will be space to share experiences and questions after the practice.

Note: Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to the workshop. In the hour before the practice, choose a light snack over a heavy meal, as this practice is most effective on an empty stomach. Please arrive hydrated.

Sisterhood is like rocket fuel for creating the kind of life we want. Surround yourself with other women like you who also want to grow and learn and you've got the powerful recipe for support, connection and change.

Becca will lead this circle the last Thursday of every month (except Jan and Feb where it will be the last Friday). She will guide the conversations around topics such as body image, health, food, healing the body, guilt, shame and tools and strategies to start changing your mindset and self-talk.

Becca's Story:
At a young age, Becca Kunce learned the power and magic of mindfulness. She spent the summers of her formative years immersed in numerous pranayama and meditation courses through The Art of Living. It was here that mindfulness techniques became embedded in her programming. Through these experiences, she found the love and power of her breath and has been turning to it ever since.

Becca comes to teach mindfulness through a background in education. She taught secondary mathematics for five years in New York City. Through her years of teaching, she learned how to masterfully facilitate groups by creating safe and sacred spaces where individuals can take risks and experience tremendous growth. When she experienced her own life-changing transformation through the power of mindfulness, she knew she had to share what she learned outward. So, she left the classroom, followed her inner guides, and began her career as a Confidence Coach. She now works with people who want to feel more confident, better in their bodies, and more powerful. In her sessions with clients, Becca incorporates mindfulness techniques and self-love strategies to help facilitate deep personal transformations.

Becca is no stranger to yo-yo dieting and hating her body. Every day, from the ages of 7 to 27, Becca was on whatever diet or food plan she believed would help her lose weight. Each time she looked in the mirror during those 20 years, she hated what she saw. She obsessed over her weight and learned to tie her self-worth to the number on the scale, the size of her pants, and the number of chins, rolls, or stretch marks she had. Whenever she had to buy bigger clothes or gained weight, she felt disgusting, shameful, and wrong. If her body happened to get smaller, she celebrated and cheered and then went right back to her patterns of self-loathing and strived to be even smaller. None of her many accomplishments in life mattered because they all happened in her body that was so obviously “wrong” and too big.

During her years of dieting, restricting, and self-loathing, she took in an overwhelming amount of information about what was “healthy” for her body. She developed extremely skewed ideas about food and her relationship to her body. It was impossible for her to fully enjoy food because she was either grumpy about eating whatever was “healthy” or she felt guilty because she was eating something “unhealthy.” Yet, she was willing to do anything to fit the mold society has laid out for us so she kept on attempting to change the way she looked.

From a very young age, it was deeply ingrained in her that it was absolutely impossible to love her body unless she looked different. In fact, she was taught she shouldn’t love her body because...how disgusting. So she did whatever it took to lose weight in hopes of feeling confident, good in her body, and dare we say...even sexy.

After two decades of feeling shame and hatred around food and her body, she gave up trying to change her physical body and turned to her mental and emotional ones. She called upon her knowledge and experience of mindfulness to help her remove the blocks she had and shift her thinking. What she uncovered was absolutely life-changing. She was shocked to find that it, in fact, WAS possible to feel confident, sexy, and good in her body, even at her all-time heaviest weight. She learned how to let go of the conditions of love she had for herself and chose to wholly love her body exactly as it was. With this came a starkly different and healthy relationship with food as she reconnected to her body and began listening to what it really wanted. This shift freed up an immense amount of energy, emotions, and headspace. She had no idea how exhausting it all was until she let it all go.

Everything you have done, are doing, and will do in this life is in your physical body. Do you have any idea how much more joyful, fun, energizing, and amazing everything is when you get to do it all in a body you love??

Becca wants you to know a few things. You and your body are absolutely amazing. You can feel as confident and as sexy as you want in the body you are in right this moment. Your body will tell you exactly what it wants and needs, you just have to know how to listen to it.

She is unbelievably excited, grateful, and honored to be able to share the tools of mindfulness and self-love with you and hopes you will join her for a class.

In this special pre-Thanksgiving holiday class, we will realign ourselves with a state of gratitude. In the high vibrational state of gratitude, fear and anxiety melt away. This class will include a group energy healing, a strengthening of energetic boundaries in anticipation of the holiday and intuitively guided energetic downloads related to gratitude.

We will be seated for most of the class with the option to lay down during a guided healing meditation. Bolsters and blankets are supplied by the studio for your comfort. Feel free to bring your yoga mat, a journal to note any insights and of course, your lovely self.

The Empowered Empath Support Group is a healing space for people who identify as Empaths or otherwise sensitive to the energy of others & the world around them.

Not sure if you fit this description, but feeling a little overwhelemed about world events, others' problems, or the future? Then this group is definitely for you!

Many people who are sensitive to energy can become easily overwhelmed without energy-managing techniques. As a result, many unbalanced energy-sensitive individuals struggle socially, physically, emotionally, or mentally. Mismanaged energy can lead to physical illness, relationship problems, or mental health issues.

Many empaths and others sensitive to energy also feel isolated and alone, which is one of the main reasons the Empowered Empath Support Group was created!

In addition to learning concepts and techniques for managing energy, the empowered empath support group is also a space for group members to give and receive support to one another about topics and questions related to being sensitive to energy.

Although it can feel like a burden, it is a gift to be sensitive to energy! We are here to help bring awareness to the world around us. In the Empowered Empath, you can learn ways to clear, rebalance, and enjoy your ability to be sensitive to energy.

The Empowered Empath Support Group meets monthly at Joy of Yoga; the cost is $20/person per group.

Gong Sessions with Pati Pellerito

Each Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:45.

You are welcome to attend all 4 for $80 or drop in for $25.

During this series we will use the sound and vibration of the gong to transform. From the balancing of our energy, to connecting to the elements through meditation, dreamwork, deep breath work (pranayma), mudra and Yoga Nidra, the gong will assist us in higher states of awareness and deeper states of peace and relaxation. Each session will be restorative and rejuvenating!

The gong is a teacher, and what it teaches cannot be written beforehand. A gong is an engine of power that produces etheric transportation of the mind. The “gong bather” is carried by this transformational force becoming the sound itself!

Color and Sound: A 5 element meditation. We will draw upon Traditional Chinese Medicine as it relates to our organ systems and the elements of nature. You will be guided through a visualization meditation accompanied by the sound and healing of the gongs.

Gong Dreaming: Through functional harmony we enter Turiya (totally awake while asleep) a musical sound journey. This session will be about shifting and balancing your energy to a state of peace, calm and equanimity.

Have you ever wondered WHY yoga is so beneficial for the body? We all know that it improves flexibility and muscle strength, but how does it improve posture, prevent cartilage and joint breakdown, protect our spine, improve bone health, increase blood flow, boost immunity, lower blood pressure, and so much more!?

Classes will be held Saturday mornings 9-10:15. Steve will lead this 5 part series (attend one class or the entire series) based on integrating basic human anatomy into our understanding of the yoga poses within a yoga class. Each class will enhance your personal yoga experience helping you to understand the why's behind the benefits of the yoga postures.

This class is open to yoga teachers, students with experience and those new to the practice.

By understanding our physical body, we can then apply it intelligently to our yoga asana (postures), breathing techniques and everyday movement patterns. This benefits of the practice amplify when mindfulness is applied in understanding why the practice is so impactful- your journey to healing and understanding your body is now two-fold. All levels welcome.

This series will be broken into 5 weeks. You can attend all 5 sessions or just 1. Each session will include lecture and asana.

Week One:

• The spine, its function, physical structure and development

• The four natural movements of the spine

• Applying these four movements to asana practice

• Respiratory System outline

Week Two:

• The Respiratory System and yogic breath

• Biomechanics in asana and muscular joint actions

• The three diaphragms

• Introduction to Bandha

• Prana and Apana

Exploring The Yoga Sutras: What is yoga?
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (100-1000CE) are the first texts where we see a manual for the practices of yoga. Patanjali, teacher and author, compiled the practices of yoga and developed them into an 8-part system. These texts are one of the greatest influences on modern yoga. This workshop will look at The Sutras through the lense of the tantra (the philosophy that dominated India 550-1250CE). We will explore the definition of yoga as offered by Pantanjali and what it means to our practice today. Bring a journal. Come ready to listen and share in conversation, asana, pranayama, and meditation. (Reading your favorite copy of The Yoga Sutras is recommended, but not required).

Part 2: October 8
Exploring The Yoga Sutras: The Yamas
Yoga is often referred to as an 8-fold path. These 8-limbs of yoga are first shared in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. We all know that essential oils smell great, but they do so much more than delight your senses. Join Katie Burke in these classes, where we will learn how to harness the medicinal power of these potent drops to amplify the effects of healing in our systems. There are many ways to tap into the therapeutic effects of an essential oil and we explore many of them during these 4 weeks.

Week 1: Easy Essential Oils
We will start the series with understanding what an essential oil is and how to use these powerful allies. Therapeutic grade essential oils are incredibly supportive to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. In this class we will go over how to infuse all parts of your every day life with natural products. An essential oil is the immune system of a plant, and it works perfectly to support the human body, too. To extract these oils from their original plant material, they are distilled or cold pressed, and then put into a bottle for our use. In this class we will go over many different ways the oil of a plant can support us. In this class you will be able to experience essential oils in a hands on way, You can use these essential oils in 3 different ways – aromatically, topically, and internally (we will talk about when that might be right for you). The molecules of essential oils are so small that they can penetrate our human cells with ease, this is part of the reason that they are so powerful! After application these oils are in your bloodstream in about 20 minutes. So let’s take advantage of these powerful plant allies and put them to work in our every day lives!

Week 2: Essential Oils in your Yoga & Meditation Practice
Learn the benefits of bringing bottles of essential oil to your yoga & meditation practice! From deep muscle relief to clearing space - there are oils for that! In this class we will go over the frequency of the human body and the frequency of the plants, how they effect our brainwaves and physical body. In essence (pun intended) we are literally talking about raising your vibration just through essential oils. Fascinating stuff!! You will walk away with a better understanding how to utilize the power of essential oils in your every day yoga and meditation practice and exactly which plant allies to reach for and why.

Week 3: Essential Oils & The Chakras
We will go through the Chakras system to explore where we can support our energy centers with the assistance of these powerful plant allies. Using essential oils to anoint and activate our energy centers! We'll dive in and talk about each chakra, what it does, and what oils can help support that chakra - and how to apply them, where to use them! Essential oils can be used to clear our energy centers, open our chakras and help us feel more grounded and clear. One by one we will work up the Chakra system and talk about how to utilize essential oils to enhance what is already within us.

Week 4: Emotional Support & Balance with Essential Oils
Did you know that our energy can get out of balance because we absorb the negativity on TV and in the world around us? I bet you did. Through the use of essential oils and restorative postures we will re-establish a deeper sense of balance for the body mind heart and spirit. Through gentle yoga and the use of essential oils, we will learn to relax deeper, activate healing, clarity and focus. Essential oils and yoga postures go together naturally, amplifying the benefits of one another making for a deeper experience of self care and mindfulness.

Harnessing the energies of your natural world like the phases of the moon and plant medicine, can help us skillfully navigate the ups and downs of everyday life. How we can use these tools and harness this potent energy of our natural world will be the focus of this class. We will begin with a short information session with Mary Shackleford, who will teach us about the essential oils we'll use for class; their practical, emotional and spiritual applications. Next, we'll move through a fluid yoga practice while learning about the energy of our new moon in Virgo and the practical, emotional and spiritual applications of this energy. Class will close with a guided meditation.

New Moons are a time for planting seeds of intention and powerful agents for change. They're an invitation to turn inward and listen to the intuitive communication coming from within. We will learn how to harness the power of this particular phase of the moon to set intentions and lay the groundwork for manifesting your vision over the next lunar cycle.

Have you wanted to learn Reiki? Us too, and we're so excited to have Sarah Buehner initiate us into this ancient healing practice!

Traditional Usui Reiki 1 Classes Start in September and will be held on Friday nights from 6:30-8pm, September 8th-October 27th. 

Join us for this 8-week course where we will learn the following:
-The background and history of Reiki
-Basic Energy Healing concepts (what is energy? energy healing? auras? chakras? meridians?) 
-How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies) 
-How to use Reiki to heal oneself
-How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)
-Other fun and helpful uses for Reiki I healing

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a powerful healing technique, that can help to bring about profound physical, emotional, and spiritual changes in a person’s life. Reiki I practitioners learn the basics of Reiki Healing, as well as how to perform self-healing and heal friends/family members and animals. You will learn basics of clearing energy in rooms, food, crystals and other objects. Each Reiki Attunement increases the person’s energy vibration, allowing for more profound healing abilities. 

Who can learn Reiki?
-Anyone who wants to practice radical self-care
-Anyone who experiences a lot of stress, anxiety, chronic pain, physical ailments/illness, spiritual blocks, or is around intense/negative energy

What makes this course different than other Reiki Trainings?
*We allow more time to learn the information, practice, and integrate the knowledge and adjust to the new vibration of energy. Many Reiki First Degree courses are taught all at once in one weekend, individually, or in 3 1-hour sessions, leaving minimal time to process the new information, ask questions, or receive guidance and additional feedback. This course is spread out over 8 weeks, and equals a total of 12 hours of training, so that at the end of the training all Reiki I practitioners feel confident in their ability to use Reiki energy to heal themselves and others.

*A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on practice. Students receive hours of experience in class and homework is given to practice between sessions. 

*You will receive support in integrating this new vibration of energy. Receiving an attunement can bring up mild physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual shifts, that can at times feel uncomfortable or overwhelming. This is happening because your vibration is increasing, and you are releasing old habits and patterns that no longer resonate with your new vibration. The attunement is given during the 3rd or 4th class, so that students have support built into the class as they adjust to the new energy.

*Additional support from an experienced healer/private practice provider. Sarah integrates additional skills and knowledge from her years as a psychotherapist, running a private practice, and from her experience as a practicing psychic/medium and Reiki Practitioner/Master. 

*Additional Resources for Spiritual Development & Reiki Healing. Sarah emphasizes spiritual growth and Reiki healing as a life-long pursuit, and provides many additional handouts, websites, organizations, and other resources for Reiki 1 students to access along the way. Sarah also provides individual feedback and guidance throughout the training program. 

Upon completing this training, you will have been trained in Traditional Usui Reiki First Degree (Reiki I), and receive your Reiki I attunement and certificate as a Traditional Usui First Degree Practitioner. Attendance to each session is required to receive Reiki I certificate. 

After completion of this course, you will have a strong foundation in Reiki healing. If you would like to pursue a career in Reiki, or you would like to further your self-healing and personal growth with Reiki, you can continue onto Reiki II, to be held later this Fall/Winter! 

This event will be hosted by Sarah Buehner, who, in addition to being a Traditional Usui Reiki Master/Teacher is also a practicing psychotherapist and psychic/medium. Sarah pursued her career in Reiki after seeing the profound effects Reiki Healings had in her own life, as well as in the lives of her counseling clients. After learning Reiki, Sarah also experienced how receiving and learning Reiki can lead to profound spiritual growth and strengthen a person’s natural intuition and psychic abilities. Sarah believes that Reiki has a significant role in healing our society in the years to come, and that Reiki will play a significant role in empowering individuals for self-healing, healing others, and contributing to global healing and peace.

Join Katie Burke at Joy of Yoga each Friday Sept 8 through Oct 20, 12:30-1:30pm for a card reading circle.

Have you ever wondered if your higher guidance is trying to give you messages? We each have access to multiple dimensions of guidance who exist beyond "normal reality" where time and space are much more flexible.

Katie Burke will lead an hour long group session where she brings forth a message to each person in attendance from their Ascended Master guides. These guides are only interested in your highest path and working in collaboration with your higher self to clearly show you the next steps that are in your best interest. Each person will leave with a message from the Ascended Master realm. In interest of everyone receiving a message, these sessions are limited to ten registrants. During the session the messages and guides that show up for others are related to other aspects of your life as well, so the entire experience is coordinated to serve the highest good of all present.

How are the Ascended Masters different from Angels? They are closely related and many times their presence feels similar! However, Ascended Master guides have walked the planet in human form and have "graduated" or Ascended to their next level of service to humanity beyond space and time as we know it.

In this now regularly scheduled class, we'll explore the benefits of Yoga during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Pregnancy and Yoga work symbiotically. As a woman becomes more in touch with her body and mind by practicing mindfulness with the use of breathing techniques and yoga movements, she will already have cultivated rituals and practices to aid in a positive birth and acclamation to motherhood after birth. The health benefits of yoga extend off the mat into birth and beyond to promote not only the baby’s health but for the mother simultaneously. Similar to other types of prenatal preparation classes, yoga gives women and families an outlet to stay physically healthy, while also receiving balance between the mind and body, bringing confidence into the birth and beyond into motherhood.

The yogic exercises (asana) softly stimulate reproductive organs, gently open and strengthen the pelvis, and create space between the hip bones, ultimately building stability and ease to support the journey of pregnancy and healing after birth. The practice of meditation and breathing exercises (pranayama) raise levels of awareness, relax the mother’s body and mind, and offer tools to cope with the pain during contractions and the stresses of adjusting to life with a newborn.

All stages of motherhood and yoga levels welcome.
