Yoga is balance, but what about your everyday life?
We live in a world that is moving faster than our biology is designed for. The constant stimulations of media, electronic devices, expectations at work... everything seems to assault our senses and push us to live in a constant state of stress. Stress is how our bodies try to adapt to a world that is overwhelming our internal ecosystems. Our stress response is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system, it is designed to protect you when you are physically or emotionally threatened. It dumps adrenaline into your blood stream to speed up your reaction time, breath becomes shallow and rapid as you move into a "fight, flight, or freeze" response. Adrenaline inhibits cortisol production & growth hormones from making repairs in our overstimulated systems. Heightened levels of stress cause our insides to deteriorate - our immune system weakens as pain and inflammation take over.
Healing comes from living in a state of calm. The key is learning how to stimulate the vagus nerve which turns "on" the parasympathetic nervous system, this is your rest and relaxation response. This state allows growth hormones to permeate injured tissue to repair your system and bring you back to balance. The tools you will learn in this workshop include breathing techniques, gentle massage ball therapy, and yoga nidra (or yogic sleep).
Your body has an infinite capacity to heal. This is the time and space to create a deep internal shift. All it takes is one step, one tool - and the world benefits.
