Joy started practicing Hatha Yoga in Portland, OR in 1994 while in college. She immediately realized the significance her yoga practice brought to her mind and body, her heart and her life. It wasn't until she became a teacher that she realized THIS was her calling, her dharma, to share the profound benefits of the practice with others. Joy's classes weave intention with pranayama, precision in alignment with quiet mindfulness and subtle body awareness with refinement. Her classes invite us to attune ourselves to the needs of our bodies and adapt our postures to create more ease, and to experience the magnificence of simply being.

Minakshi Deepak

Minakshi is from India, the land of yoga. She has been practicing yoga since 2001 and also has been sharing the benefits of yoga with her family and friends. She is passionate about teaching yoga and believes in bringing positive changes to the lives of her students through the practice. Minakshi's students receive great focus on correct alignment and breath to help achieve the 3 levels of purification: mind, body, nervous system. Using yoga as holistic healing, Minakshi creates a divine space for her students filled with love and compassion. She believes that through our yoga practices, we develop a greater awareness of our physical, emotional and psychological states helping us to find more ease in our relationships and everyday living. Students will immediately feel the difference in their day to day life. Minakshi received her Diploma in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Pranayama and Yoga Nidra from Kapila Maharshi Yoga Institute of Hyderabad, India, in the year 2014. During her internship, she explored the therapeutic effects of yoga in combination with Ayurveda for holistic and natural treatment. She has experience in teaching all age groups, from beginners to advanced. She is also available for private sessions for Yoga, breathing techniques(Pranamaya) and meditation at Joy of yoga.
