The Adaptable Chair – Techniques for Teachers is a six week course on Tuesdays, August 11-September 15.
This workshop is designed for yoga teachers at all levels who want to learn techniques and methodology for incorporating a chair as a tool in their traditional mat-based yoga classes. We will cover issues around physical accessibility and opening different expressions of asana (poses) that use the chair as a prop both from a standing and seated perspective. Techniques for teaching to a room of students where some are using chairs and some are not will be the primary focus of this series. As such, an introduction to inclusive languaging will be included. The techniques here are designed to help teachers learn to build classes that are inclusive. Common adaptive techniques will be covered.
This series is being offered for 7.5 continuing education credits through Yoga Alliance primarily under the category of teaching methodology and will also include techniques, trainings, and practice.
