Week 4: Working with Movement +Stillness Practices in Yoga
Facilitator: Julie Johnson
Of particular value to yoga teachers and students, mindfulness instructors, therapists, healers, counselors, life coaches, and human service providers, this offering will include evidence-based research on how trauma affects the brain, body, needs, and decision-making processes. An overview of yoga’s impact on the process of recovering from trauma will be shared, as well as an intro to trauma-sensitive teaching styles and best practices.
Each class will be 90-minutes in length that blends the first 30 minutes as an infos session followed by a 45-minute yoga class that blends both movement and stillness based styles of yoga into a sequence lead by Julie and/or Rachel. Combined instruction will feature different possibilities for integrating mind and body through movement, breath work, and stillness, all while encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and discovery as we explore the above topics.
Registered Yoga Teachers with Yoga Alliance can receive up to 4 Yoga Alliance CEUS and all participants will receive a certificate of completion for attending all 4 classes.
