Teacher Training and Immersion

Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga offer a 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher Training designed for those who feel called to teach—and for those who simply want to go deeper into the practice, philosophy, history, and lived experience of yoga.

This is an immersion into yoga as a way of life.

Together, we explore Yogic Philosophy not simply as something to study, but as a living framework for how we move through the world, relate to ourselves and one another, and meet the experiences of our everyday lives. Through asana, meditation, pranayama, philosophy, mythology, anatomy, alignment, chanting, and contemplative practice, we begin to experience yoga from the inside out.

More Than Learning How to Teach

Joy and Jill created this training with the belief that becoming a yoga teacher is about much more than learning how to lead a class.

It is about learning how to listen—to your body, your intuition, your students, and the deeper wisdom that becomes available when we slow down enough to hear it.

Some students enter this training knowing they want to teach. Others come because something in them is asking to understand yoga more deeply. Both are welcome here.

Our goal is not to hand you a formula for what a yoga teacher should look or sound like. Instead, this training gives you the knowledge, tools, experience, and confidence to discover your own authentic voice as a teacher and practitioner.

You will learn the art of sequencing and thoughtful application while developing the ability to see that there is rarely only one way to approach a practice. We encourage curiosity, creativity, intuition, and the willingness to meet each student—and each moment—with presence.

Yogic Philosophy Comes Alive

Throughout the training, we return again and again to the roots of yoga and the wisdom of Yogic Philosophy.

Each training weekend is also woven around the mythology and energy of a different deity from the Hindu tradition. Through story, iconography, mantra, meditation, philosophy, and embodied practice, these archetypes become a doorway into deeper inquiry.

Rather than simply learning about mythology, we explore what these ancient stories might reveal about our own lives: courage, devotion, transformation, discernment, compassion, destruction, renewal, and the many forces that move through the human experience.

This creates a training that is intellectually rich, physically empowering, spiritually nourishing, and deeply personal.

A Trauma-Sensitive Approach

This is a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training. Alongside the traditional teachings of yoga, you will develop an understanding of trauma-informed principles and practical tools for creating classes and spaces that are more supportive, inclusive, and responsive to the nervous system.

We believe that how we teach matters as much as what we teach.

A Community That Continues

The training doesn't end when you receive your certificate.

Upon completion, every student has free (optional) access to an ongoing mentorship and coaching program led by Joy and Jill. This gives you a place to ask questions, refine your teaching, work through challenges, and continue developing your voice as a teacher—or simply continue deepening your relationship with yoga.

Throughout the training, students also receive unlimited free yoga classes at both Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga, creating the opportunity to practice, observe different teaching styles, and become part of the community that surrounds the training.

Who Is This Training For?

You don't need to be able to touch your toes. You don't need to have years of experience or a particular level of physical strength or flexibility.

What you do need is curiosity, commitment, and a genuine desire to learn.

You may be ready to become a yoga teacher. You may be looking for a deeper understanding of the practice you've already fallen in love with. You may simply sense that there is something more waiting for you inside these teachings.

Wherever you are beginning, you are welcome here.

This training will take place over 10 WEEKENDS and 1 LIVE ZOOM meeting per month.

“I highly recommend Joy of Yoga/Wildwood yoga for teacher training. There is so much more to learn outside of traditional asana yoga and with Joy and Jill, I believe they are the whole package. We learned more than I could have ever imagined and I am forever grateful to have crossed paths with not only these amazing instructors, but the incredible classmates that joined me. Anu was an added bonus that I will always cherish!”

“My experience going through YTT with Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga was so much more than I imagined it to be. Joy and Jill are both extremely knowledgeable about the philosophy, history and the anatomy of yoga, and are very passionate about it. Their yoga love seeps through in their teaching. These women taught me so so so much more than proper alignment in an asana, they taught me how to be a more present, attentive and joyous person! The skills I have learned on and off the mat are so invaluable to me. I could not recommend this training enough honestly, I would do it all over again if I could.”

“This training truly changed my life! Unlike other trainings, this one is centered over 6 months allowing you to experience a dedication to yoga through the seasons of life and our environment. The variety of teachings from yoga philosophy, anatomy, asana, pranayama, and centering around building a meditation practice is unique! If offered, I would take additional trainings at Joy of Yoga.”

“Joy of Yoga Teacher Training was a life changing experience for me. It was a space not only to learn about yoga, the history of yoga and anatomy, but also a place to connect with people who I hold dear to my heart. The curriculum was outstanding, the instructors Joy Page and Jill Dunlap were easy to work with, smart and had incredible knowledge through their many years of yoga and teaching experiences to make me feel confident and prepared when we completed the program. In addition to classroom time, they offered experiences outside of the classroom that furthered our education. From the beautiful music we had every Sunday from the lovely Anu French who would play her harmonium for us to the thoughtful gifts such as Malabeads we received when we graduated, this Teacher Training was beyond what I could have ever imagined. Whether you want to further your own practice or become a teacher, this program will benefit you and change your life for the better. Highly recommend this beautiful Teacher Training by Joy and Jill.”

“I most enjoyed the space, time and energy Joy and Jill provided for us to learn, grow and ask questions. We were encouraged to participate at every level in this process. As I reflect upon this incredible program and experience, I realize now that every time we got together (in person or online) my mind was expanding, my body was moving energy, and my spirit got more and more thirsty. Joy and Jill both inspired me to look inward, try new ways of thinking and moving, and continue this journey of self development for a lifetime. I am forever grateful to have ended up with these 2 incredible teachers. They are doing life-changing work in this world and I'm glad to have benefited by completing this program. Thank you, Joy and Jill.”
