Teacher Training and Immersion 2021

Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga are conducting a 200HR Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher Training and Immersion (in-person and online) for anyone wanting to become a certified yoga teacher or those that would like to immerse themselves into their yoga practice to gain a deeper understanding of yoga's history, philosophy and practical application in today's world.

What makes this Yoga Teacher Training Distinct?

  • Joy and Jill created this training curriculum which emphasizes anatomy, alignment, philosophy, meditation, spiritual practices, and the mythical teachings and stories from India.

  • You will learn how to cultivate a spiritual practice. We consider the spiritual aspects of yoga to be just as significant as the postures and breath in developing yoga teachers.

  • You will also learn how to build a meditation practice.

  • A Mentorship program is included after the training to further develop your skills as a yoga teacher.

  • A deep reverence and recognition of the tradition and lineage of yoga as a practice from India.

  • A guest teacher from India each weekend who teaches sanskrit (the language of yoga), mantra, kirtan and the myths and stories of origin from India.

  • Apart from the guest teacher, each weekend is additionally infused with the mythical stories of India, their characters and relevance to our modern life.

  • Each student receives Unlimited Free Yoga at both Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga for the duration of the teacher training.

  • Training is held online and in-person.

Requirements for this training: A desire to learn more about who you are and immerse yourself in the teachings of yoga.

Some Recent Reviews:

Joy and Jill’s 200hour training program is well thought out and executed. They provide ample time and attention to anatomy, philosophy, and meditation/breathwork. The program was shaken up by the pandemic of 2020 and they did an amazing job continuing our education throughout these unsteady times. Their attention to detail and personal connection to their students made us all feel safe. I am so proud to be part of a training program that teaches from the heart and is more trauma informed with their language and teaching styles. This program is one that can not be compared to many and is my top choice for training in St Louis. -Rachel

My teacher training was taught by two amazing yoga teachers, Joy Page of Joy of Yoga and Jill Dunlap of Wildwood Yoga and Wellness. We got caught in an unprecedented time due to COVID and both Joy and Jill were able to continue our training without much hiccups. They found creative ways around all the hurdles keeping the training challenging and interesting for us. Having two teachers teach us exposed two different perspectives and far exceeded my expectations. Jill and Joy are well versed in yoga in practice and its philosophy and are thorough. Both go beyond what may be needed for this class and you can see that they have put a lot of time and effort. Jill and Joy are both very humble and very caring. I highly recommend their yoga teacher training program. Thank you Jill and Joy. -Bhanu

My experience with Jill and Joy was one that I will carry with me forever! I started this journey for my own personal growth and expansion of my practice. It became so much more to me. Jill and Joy are not only beyond knowledgeable, but they are supportive, positive, and caring. Their program teaches so much more than just asanas. If you are looking for a program that will stretch your thinking and understanding of yoga, make you grow in ways you did not even think possible, and will challenge you to find your inner voice, this is the one for you! I cannot recommend this program enough! I am so thankful that I found it. Enjoy your journey! Namaste. -Lindsey

What makes this Yoga Teacher Training distinctive is its ability to draw from a wide spectrum of yoga practices, philosophies and techniques. This training promises to deliver intellectually stimulating content, physically empowering practices, and spiritual connection through the cultivation of a daily sadhana practice. Every student will be guided into creating a meditation practice. Meditation is an integral part of this training.

Physical strength and flexibility are not requirements to be a yoga teacher. The desire to better yourself and those around you are the requirements for this training.

This training is designed to connect you to your inner teacher and guide. This is not a set of prescribed sequences that must be delivered with prescribed speech. It is a map to lead you to that inner wisdom and voice of the teacher within. Intuition, creativity, connection and thoughtful application are the cornerstones of the knowledge and teaching methods you will gain. Teachers will learn the art of sequencing, knowing that there is never just one way, but that there is always an authentic and intuitive approach.

As a yoga teacher, we continuously put ourselves again and again in the seat of a student enabling us to hold more compassion and understanding for our students and continuously educating ourselves on the new ideas and fresh perspectives of the Yogic Teachings. Teaching yoga is a great responsibility, one that must be held in the highest regard. To be a yoga teacher is to be a 'Mitra', a friend to all of humanity. We are all a part of the great tree of life.

Regardless of where you find yourself in your yoga practice, this training will transform each of us on every level. Welcome to your brand new beginning!

Joy Page and Jill Dunlap co-created the hatha yoga based curriculum that will be the basis for this training. The curriculum emphasizes alignment, anatomy, philosophy and meditation. Each weekend we will explore a different Hindu Deity. During that weekend we will weave the iconography, mythology, mantras and energy/role of that deity throughout the philosophy teachings, meditations and chanting.

Throughout the entire training program, each student has unlimited monthly memberships at both Joy of Yoga and Wildwood Yoga.

This training will be held in person to a limited number of students to accommodate social distancing requirements. In addition, there is an online option available.

Teacher Training will take place over 10 weekends.
