Do you love or hate winter? Most of us associate winter with unbearable cold, dry skin, sickness, weight gain, sadness, and seasonal affective disorder. When we are in balance wintertime invites peace and calm, it is the perfect antidote for the fast paced summer-holiday season. This is the perfect time to turn to the rhythms of nature for health and wellbeing - this is the practice of Yoga & Ayurveda.
Known as the "sister science" of yoga, Ayurveda is the world's oldest holistic healing system. Its intelligence is in its simplicity. Ayurveda teaches us that like increases like and that opposites balance. Each season ushers in a unique set of qualities that can either pacify or aggravate the inner workings of your being.
This workshop will help you stay connected this winter season. Come prepared to listen, take notes, and enjoy a short yoga and breath practice. We will introduce you to Ayurveda, it's basic principles, and the characteristics of vata/kapha season (early winter through early spring). You will learn the daily routines and foods to keep you warm and help build your immune system. Ayurveda believes that maintaining consistent daily routines is the springboard for optimal energy, health, and self-healing.
