Wake up the physical, mental and energy bodies with movement and breathwork. Inspire the mind with a teaching and sit for seven minutes of silent meditation to create space and hold yourself with kind awareness as you move into your day.
For the month of April, Morning Ritual will explore different pranayama—yogic breathing—practices. According to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, the purpose of pranayama is to eliminate the distinction between the internal and the external. Through the breath, we remember that we are one with our surroundings. From a contemporary physiological perspective, pranayama can foster different states in the nervous system. We’ll experiment with calming as well as energizing breath techniques to connect to presence, cultivate interbeing, and support our meditation practice.
