Frequently asked questions

Q: What do I need to bring to class?

A: If you have a mat, bring it! If you don’t, we have mats you can borrow. Everything else you need will be supplied.

Q: What type of clothing is good to wear for a class?

A: Comfortable clothing that allows you to move. 

Q: How can I prepare for class?

A: Arrive to class 10-15min early to get your props and settle in.

Q: What are good options of things to eat if I’m hungry before class?

A: Eat something light. You don’t want to be hungry while practicing, but you don’t want to be digesting food either. Fruit is a great option!

Q: What time should I arrive?

A: Arrive 10-15 minutes before class begins to settle in.

Q. What if I arrive late?

A. Things happen, we understand. As you enter, please be respectful of the class, & enter the room as quietly as possible.

Q: How do I get to the studio?

A: Joy of Yoga is located on Manchester Road just West of Brentwood Blvd at 8918 Manchester Rd. We are across the street from the Gifted Gardener. The entrance to the studio and parking is located in the back of the building.

Q: Which door do I use?

Classes will be in “Main Studio” (glass door) or in “Studio B/Downstairs Studio” (steel door). It will show which studio when you sign up for class.

Q: Where do I park?

A: There is plenty of parking in the back of the studio by the entrance. 

Q: What packages do you offer to new students?

A: Joy of Yoga offers the New Student Special. $29 for yoga classes for 2 weeks. Click here to purchase! Please note that special series and workshops are not included in this offer.

Try out as many teachers and classes as your schedule allows.

Ideally, making room for 2-3 classes per week on a regular basis will help you get the most out of your yoga practice.

It's also important to find teachers that you connect with and styles of yoga that make you feel good.

Q: What classes are best for people who are new to yoga?

A: Joy of Yoga offers a variety of classes that invite all levels of yogis. If you are new to yoga or want to get back into it, we offer great options for introductory levels.

Yoga Nidra, New & Full Moon classes are introductory level classes, as well. Be on the lookout for those on the calendar, as the dates change.

Q: How do I sign up for classes?

A: Once you have purchased your new student special, you can download the MindBody App to register and sign up for classes or click the link of the class for which you wish to sign up. During this 2-week period is a great time to try out various classes and teachers to get an idea of what works for you!

Q: Can I drop-in?

A: Yes! If you just want to try a class, you can purchase a Drop-in for $15. See class schedule here. Click the “Sign Up Now” button next to the class you want to sign up for. From there, all the different pricing options will be available.
