Mommy and Me Yoga Play – Stretching & Stories

Mommy and Me Yoga Play – Stretching & Stories

This playful yoga class for parents/caregivers and babies (up through crawling age) provides an opportunity for new parents to get back on the mat or try yoga for the first time, all while engaging your baby with touch and movement.

In this flexible class, crawling babies will certainly move off their mats and parents can allow them room to move and then guide their return.  A variety of yoga poses and gentle stretches help parents unwind and tune into what their bodies need in a baby-friendly environment.  Your baby will learn more about their own body by watching you move through poses and by exploring new positions themselves.  This class includes story time as another way to engage your little one.  Spending this interactive, tech-free time with your baby promotes bonding and supports your child’s development.

As new parents, flexibility is key, and each class will consist of a fluid practice that allows ample space to listen to your body and your baby’s needs.  Please bring baby blankets as well as other items that make you and your baby comfortable such as toys and bottles.

Heart Centered Kundalini Yoga

The heart chakra is said to be the only Chakra from which we are truly human. Everything below, sub human - more animalistic; everything above, beyond human - more angelic. In these 4 Kundalini Yoga classes, we will work to open and balance the heart center to bestow wisdom, nobility, fulfillment of desires, & even a strong immune system.

Opening the heart center can be a profound experience of compassion for others & self love. We will work with different Kundalini Kriyas & Meditations each week, allowing anyone to drop in for any or all of the classes. Each Kriya consists of a combination of mantra (chanting), asana (postures), mudras (hand seals), visualization, and movement. Kundalini is “can-do” yoga. Do what you can, no self judgment for needing a modification or a restful break, and know that your personal best is always more than good enough!

These classes will help feelings of alienation, obligation, need for control, fear, & sadness all fly away from your personality. Open to this unending reservoir of love within you!

Pop Up! Sacred Cacao Ceremony led by Keri Kugler

Pop Up! Sacred Cacao Ceremony led by Keri Kugler

Shamanic healing is one of the oldest holistic healing practices used by ancient cultures worldwide for centuries. Cacao ceremonies are a type of shamanic healing, but they don’t have hallucinogenic or “out of body” effects, unlike some of the other shamanic experiences.

Cacao ceremonies are rooted in helping to rebalance the energies within us, and restore good health. The benefits of drinking cacao are plentiful. Among being packed with vitamins and minerals cacao is rich with emotional and spiritual benefits as well. Cacao is said to assist in opening our hearts, connecting us to higher self, deeper states of meditation, mental clarity, creativity, healing--and it's FUN and DELICIOUS!

In this ceremony we will open the sacred space with gentle movement. We will then reconnect to our heart’s wisdom by setting intentions and releasing what is no longer serving us as we sip on delicious, organic cacao direct from a small farm in Belize.

Together we will bring in new intentions and end ceremony with more movement to surrender fully. Throughout this experience you will be held and nurtured and will experience a heightened sense of connectedness to everyone else around you and to the sacredness that lies within and surrounds you always.

Rest as Transformation

Rest as Transformation

New seasons, new jobs and projects, shifting relationships, journeys toward healing…change is all around us and within us. When change is on the horizon, do you rocket into planning and action? Or do you curl up under the covers? It turns out, your body has the right idea to move in the direction of rest!

We can harness the power of change, no matter how big or small, by learning from the wisdom of rest. Bears hibernate, caterpillars cocoon, seeds nestle and wait patiently in the soil--rest is not a reward for surviving change, but rather a requirement to process it!

This six-week series will utilize the slow and embodied practice of restorative yoga as an approach to understand and enjoy deep and impactful transformation.

Each week, students will be guided through a different phase of the transformation process, and given space to explore these phases through restorative sequences and journaling.

When we create this space for deep rest and inquiry, we are empowered to listen, move, and transform intentionally through the many changes life offers to us all.

Participants are encouraged to arrive 15-20 minutes early in order to settle into the space without rush.

Anatomy for Yoga Teachers & Nerds: Refining the Lower Body

Anatomy for Yoga Teachers & Nerds: Refining the Lower Body

Yoga is inherently therapeutic. If, and only if, we understand the anatomy of the yoga poses. When we properly line up the bones we coordinate strength with deep core facilitation. We enhance the function of all systems; including nervous, digestive, immune, and endocrine. We maximize breathing mechanics and cardio respiratory potentials. We refine the attention, retention, and insight capabilities of the mind. Most importantly, it provides the foundation for a sustainable, life long practice. As a yoga teacher our understanding of anatomy is paramount to understanding how the practice lives in our student's bodies.

In the first of this three part series we will discuss the anatomy from the hips to the feet. Class begins with the detailed anatomy of the lower body. This lecture will include the optimal movement of the muscles and joints as well as common misalignments and injuries to prepare you for a typical yoga class. Asana class will cover core yoga poses for the lower body to integrate this knowledge into your own practice. We will also work in small groups to refine your observation skills, explore common misalignments, distill verbal cueing and hands-on adjustments.

Our goal is to efficiently and affectively support your student's expression of their yoga practice.

*Please come prepared to learn and practice yoga. It is highly recommended to attend all 3 workshops, but each section may be attended individually.

Un poco sobre EspañYOGA:
"Aquí se habla español. And sometimes English. Y en reality, un poco de los dos. Pero seguro que esta clase es para todos. This class is for everyone.

You deserve to give yourself space for fresh energy to refuel with. Let's work on self-compassion so that we may be a more compassionate community.

¡Esta clase de yoga es para beginners totalmente! All levels welcome, both in Spanish knowledge and yoga skill. Vas a aprender a traer movimiento con la respiración y mantener una conexión a su cuerpo. Vas a aprender que el yoga extiende mucho más que los movimientos físicos. We will learn how to create a base for self-care, in a way that is more than simply physical care, while also creating an environment for community care.

Si eres primera generación o segunda, hasta tercera generacion latinx, if you are only recently learning Spanish, come! ¡Llega! This class welcomes non native and native speakers alike. Ni el yoga tienes que saber. Just show up. Y cuídate."

Sound Bath- Halloween Night! Healing Sound, Restorative Yoga, Tibetan Bowls and Planetary Gongs

Join Pati Pellerito and Joy Page for two hours of healing through Sound, Yoga, Meditation, Breathwork and connection to a renewed sense of peace and calm.

As we place our body postures of receptivity, we allow. The layers of tension melt, our busy minds settle and the complexities of life fade into the background. During this session, our bodies will absorb the healing vibrations of sound of the Tibetan Bowls and Planetary Gongs and the energies of breathwork and yogic posture. Through these alchemical processes we shift, our connective tissue and brain waves literally recalibrate toward balance, creativity and ease.

The multitudinous sounds and waves of soothing energy from Tibetan Singing Bowls, Planetary Gongs, and many other percussive and acoustic instruments offer nutrition for the neurological system as well as medicine for the soul. Many describe this experience as transportive, as the sounds encourage a shift in brain wave state to alpha-theta, one that supports a restful and rejuvenating experience.

As we move forward into 2019, these moon classes help us use the energy of our natural world to activate intentionally our dreams and visions.

Full moons are especially potent in helping us release and free ourselves of whatever it is holding us back.
Syncing up with our universe and using astrology to thrive in everyday life is one powerful way to use mother nature to help us feel balanced, whole and purposeful.

Tapping into the energy of our world, the phases of the moon and positioning of the planets are all tools each of us has to make sense of what can feel at times to be nonsensical. There is a reason, a way, a lesson here for you to uncover.

Anatomy for Yoga Teachers & Nerds: Refining the Upper Body

Anatomy for Yoga Teachers & Nerds: Refining the Upper Body

Yoga is inherently therapeutic. If, and only if, we understand the anatomy of the yoga poses. When we properly line up the bones we coordinate strength with deep core facilitation. We enhance the function of all systems; including nervous, digestive, immune, and endocrine. We maximize breathing mechanics and cardio respiratory potentials. We refine the attention, retention, and insight capabilities of the mind. Most importantly, it provides the foundation for a sustainable, life long practice. As a yoga teacher our understanding of anatomy is paramount to understanding how the practice lives in our student's bodies.

In the third of this three part series we will discuss the anatomy of the upper body. This will include everything from the hands, through the shoulders, to the head. The lecture will include the optimal movement of the muscles and joints as well as common misalignments and injuries to prepare you for a typical yoga class. Asana class will cover core yoga poses for the upper body to integrate this knowledge into your own practice. We will also work in small groups to refine your observation skills, explore common misalignments, distill verbal cueing, and hands-on adjustments.

Our goal is to efficiently and affectively support your student's expression of their yoga practice.

*Please come prepared to learn and practice yoga. It is highly recommended to attend all 3 workshops, but each section may be attended individually.

Teacher Training and Immersion 2020

Teacher Training and Immersion 2020

Wildwood Yoga and Joy of Yoga will be conducting a 200HR Registered Yoga Teacher Training and Immersion for anyone wanting to become a certified yoga teacher or those that would like to immerse themselves into their physical practice and understanding of yoga's history, philosophy and practical application in today's world.

What makes this Yoga Teacher Training distinct is its ability to draw from a wide spectrum of yoga practices, philosophies and techniques. This training promises to deliver intellectually stimulating content, physically empowering practices, and spiritual connection through the cultivation of a daily sadhana practice. Physical strength and flexibility are not requirements to be a yoga teacher. The desire to better yourself and those around you are the requirements for this training.

This training is design to connect you to your inner teacher and guide. This is not a set of prescribed sequences that must be delivered with prescribed speech. It is a map to lead you to that inner wisdom and voice of the teacher within. Intuition, creativity, connection and thoughtful application are the cornerstones of the knowledge and teaching methods you will gain. Teachers will be asked to be accountable and to know why they are designing their classes with a specific sequence of poses, knowing that there is never just one way or one response, but that there is always an authentic and intuitive approach.

As a yoga teacher, we continuously put ourselves in the seat of a student enabling us to hold more compassion and understanding for our students and continuously educating ourselves on the new ideas, fresh perspectives of the Yogic Teachings. Teaching yoga is a great responsibility, one that must be held in the highest regard. To be a yoga teacher is to be a 'Mitra', a friend to all of humanity.

Regardless of where you find yourself in your yoga practice, this training will transform each of us on every level. Welcome to your brand new beginning!

A few reviews on Yoga Alliance from our recent graduates:

"Joy and Jill have poured their hearts and shared wealth of knowledge into this RYT200 training and as a result the program they have created is truly excellent. There are so many compliments I could leave here, but perhaps most relevant is that I believe they have left all of us who completed the program feeling fully prepared to teach and teach well. Beyond the practical, these incredible women have designed a journey full of love, community, kindness, and self-realization through the close study and practice of the ancient tradition of yoga." -Andrea

"Joy and Jill have an incredibly deep well of knowledge and experience that they were so willing to share with my training class, and they brought amazing outside resources to us to round out our learning. For 10 weekends, through their words, their energy, their love of yoga and teaching, Joy and Jill provided a truly supportive space where I learned so much more than just philosophy, alignment, anatomy, meditation, and breath work: they helped me find my voice and the confidence to take it out into the world. The training Joy and Jill have put together will give you so much more than you could hope to expect." -Lindsay

I cannot say enough amazing things about this 200 HR-RYT program!! Joy and Jill are some of the most loving, big-hearted, gifted, smart & capable women that I know. This program will deepen your practice physically, mentally and emotionally. They provide vast knowledge to the trainees on the history and philosophy of yoga; trainees leave this program with a rich, well-rounded foundation to begin their yoga teacher journey. Joy and Jill provide such a safe, nurturing environment that encourages everyone to reach their full potential. You will feel cherished and loved throughout this intense journey. You will finish the 10 months of this journey a much stronger individual. Your heart will be opened, your mind expanded, and your body so well prepared to engage your students in a rich yoga practice. Joy and Jill do a wonderful job of teaching alignment, but more importantly, they share great insight on how to develop a keen eye as you watch your students to see what cues need to be given. They teach you that every body is different, and while alignment is important, it will look and feel differently for each individual. They teach you to see the beauty first and then to provide the guidance that will enable your student to blossom to her/his best self. I am so grateful to Joy and Jill; they have helped shape my entire teacher prospective. I feel so confident in the foundation they so generously offered. I would recommend this program to every aspiring yogi. It will change your life. -Colleen

THRIVE
Have you been struggling with dealing with certain emotions like stress, anxiety, sadness, insecurity, resentment, criticism?
Does your mind and thought patterns seem to control your behaviors, actions, the way you live your life?
Are you finding it difficult to feel into the sensations of your body? Sometimes it seems there is too much inflammation or pain?
Do you find yourself feeling unsafe, in a state of worry and unease throughout your day?

If you answered yes to any of these and maybe even all of them - know that you are not alone.

Join Brooke Brasfield in a workshop she has created specifically for you. She will be discussing the mind (thought patterns/emotional patterns), body (energetics, movement) and spirit (freedom/support). She will provide applicable techniques to guide you to your specific starting place. Brooke believes we all have the answer(s) to these questions within us, but sometimes we need a guide to lead us to the beginning of the path.

This workshop is an interactive workshop that will provide you with an increased knowledge of yourself and your own mind, body, spirit connection. The workshop is interactive, it will keep you engaged and supported through group interaction and feedback. Brooke's goal is for you to leave the workshop feeling inspired, connected, supported, and with more knowledge about your internal self.

Brooke began her journey as a mental health professional - studying and teaching mindfulness, meditation, stress reduction, anxiety & depression education/techniques, diaphragmatic breathwork and dual diagnosis. She currently identifies her work of serving others as a mentor, teacher, student, healer and conscious leader. Her mission is to hold space for others to feel completely seen, heard and supported exactly where they are in their journey. To activate people to live the life they were meant to live - to live a life that thrives in all capacities. She has dedicated her life to this work - to the daily practice of thriving and activating her own life.

Reiki Training Level 1
Aug
21
7:00 PM19:00

Reiki Training Level 1

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a powerful healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the knowledge that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and keeps us balanced, alive and well.

When we're not feeling well, it can be caused by blockages in our flow of energy that becomes stagnant causing us to feel sick, overly emotional or stressed. Reiki works to clear and balance the energies of the body, bringing about profound physical, emotional, and spiritual changes in a person.

Reiki I practitioners learn the basics of Reiki Healing, as well as how to perform self-healing and the hand positions to help heal others.

During this course we will learn:

-The background and history of Reiki
-Basic Energy Healing concepts (energy, energy healing, auras, chakras, meridians and nadis)
-Techniques for Grounding
-How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)
-How to use Reiki to heal oneself
-How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)
-How to clear your energy with a Reiki Shower
-How to Imbue Sacred Objects with Reiki

Who can learn Reiki?

-Anyone wanting to help heal themselves or others
-Those who want to begin or further their spiritual development
-Anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, chronic pain, physical ailments/illness, spiritual or energetic blocks
-Those who want to help heal animals

What makes this course different than other Reiki Trainings?

-Because the course is spread out over multiple weeks, this allows more time to learn the information, practice, and integrate the knowledge and adjust to the new vibration of energy.

-Many Reiki First Degree courses are taught all at once in one day, or in three 1-hour sessions, leaving minimal time to process the new information, ask questions, or receive guidance and additional feedback through the process of attuning to the new energy. This course is spread out over multiple weeks, and equals a total of 8 hours of training, so that at the end of the training all Reiki I practitioners feel confident in their ability to use Reiki energy to heal themselves and others.

-A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on practice. Students receive hours of hands-on experience in class and homework is given to practice between sessions.

-You will receive support in integrating this new vibration of energy. The attunement is given during the 1st class (of two week sessions), and the 2nd class (of four week sessions), so that students have support and guidance built into the class as they adjust to the new energy.

-We emphasize spiritual growth and Reiki healing as a life-long pursuit, and provide many additional handouts, websites, organizations, and other resources for Reiki students to access along the way.

-We also provide individual feedback and guidance throughout the training program.

Upon completing this training, you will have been trained in Traditional Usui Reiki First Degree (Reiki I), and receive your Reiki I attunement and certificate as a Traditional Usui First Degree Practitioner.

Yoga Teachers receive 4 hours of CE Credit through Yoga Alliance.

The fee for this course is $295.

Facilitator: Casie Danenhauer

Location: Main Studio/Upstairs

Many people with pelvic pain, or other health issues such as vaginismus, endometriosis, or interstitial cystitis feel like there's a "missing link' to why they aren't getting better, or why they feel disconnected from their bodies. At Enlighten Physical Therapy in Santa Barbara, Casie specializes in providing conscious care for pelvic health in these cases.

She combines her skills as a yoga instructor and a pelvic floor and orthopedic physical therapist to create a unique and holistic path towards healing. The path is one that maintains balance between evidence-based western science and an integrative consideration of the physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual systems.

Casie's aim is to empower her clients through education, and by giving them the treatment tools they need for self-management, self- care, and self-healing. She uses a variety of manual therapy techniques along with yoga-based interventions to treat and teach people with pelvic floor and chronic pain concerns. If you feel like you may benefit from a more holistic approach to wellness, come join us for a weekend workshop!
