Yoga for Teens

Yoga for Teens is a class that teaches teenagers the practice of yoga. We will meet once a week for one hour over a 5 week period. Each week will have a different focus that will be incorporated into a vinyasa flow that offers different variations for all levels. Students can attend just one class or all 5.

Goal: To provide a space for teenagers to heal, learn, and grow through the practice of yoga.

Yoga Basics (June 15 FREE: See below for sign up)

  • This week we will focus on the benefits of yoga. The practice will be a beginner level asana practice focused on connecting breath to movement.

Meditation (June 22)

  • This week will be a restorative practice focused on slowing down and clearing the mind. We will learn meditation techniques and practice listening to our bodies and breath.

Gratitude (June 29)

  • This week we will flow through a practice focused on creating a gratitude attitude. We will take a few minutes before the asana practice to write down a gratitude list and learn the importance of coming from a place of gratitude.

Journaling (July 6)

  • This week we will start and end class with a 5 minute reflection time. We will focus on using writing as a tool to maintain emotional and mental health.

Manifesting (July 13)

  • This week’s practice will focus on manifesting our hopes and dreams. We will learn the importance of our mindset and expectations.

Taking It Off the Mat (July 20)

  • This weeks practice will focus on taking yoga off the mat and into our lives. We will create goals and steps of how to continue this practice even when the program ends.

Many people with pelvic pain, or other health issues such as vaginismus, endometriosis, or interstitial cystitis feel like there's a "missing link' to why they aren't getting better, or why they feel disconnected from their bodies. At Enlighten Physical Therapy in Santa Barbara, Casie specializes in providing conscious care for pelvic health in these cases.

She combines her skills as a yoga instructor and a pelvic floor and orthopedic physical therapist to create a unique and holistic path towards healing. The path is one that maintains balance between evidence-based western science and an integrative consideration of the physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual systems.

Casie's aim is to empower her clients through education, and by giving them the treatment tools they need for self-management, self- care, and self-healing. She uses a variety of manual therapy techniques along with yoga-based interventions to treat and teach people with pelvic floor and chronic pain concerns. If you feel like you may benefit from a more holistic approach to wellness, come join us for a weekend workshop!

Mommy and Me Yoga Play – Stretching & Stories

This playful yoga class for parents/caregivers and babies (up through crawling age) provides an opportunity for new parents to get back on the mat or try yoga for the first time, all while engaging your baby with touch and movement.

In this flexible class, crawling babies will certainly move off their mats and parents can allow them room to move and then guide their return.  A variety of yoga poses and gentle stretches help parents unwind and tune into what their bodies need in a baby-friendly environment.  Your baby will learn more about their own body by watching you move through poses and by exploring new positions themselves.  This class includes story time as another way to engage your little one.  Spending this interactive, tech-free time with your baby promotes bonding and supports your child’s development.

As new parents, flexibility is key, and each class will consist of a fluid practice that allows ample space to listen to your body and your baby’s needs.  Please bring baby blankets as well as other items that make you and your baby comfortable such as toys and bottles.

Reiki Training Level 1
Aug
21
7:00 PM19:00

Reiki Training Level 1

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a powerful healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the knowledge that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and keeps us balanced, alive and well.

When we're not feeling well, it can be caused by blockages in our flow of energy that becomes stagnant causing us to feel sick, overly emotional or stressed. Reiki works to clear and balance the energies of the body, bringing about profound physical, emotional, and spiritual changes in a person.

Reiki I practitioners learn the basics of Reiki Healing, as well as how to perform self-healing and the hand positions to help heal others.

During this course we will learn:

-The background and history of Reiki
-Basic Energy Healing concepts (energy, energy healing, auras, chakras, meridians and nadis)
-Techniques for Grounding
-How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)
-How to use Reiki to heal oneself
-How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)
-How to clear your energy with a Reiki Shower
-How to Imbue Sacred Objects with Reiki

Who can learn Reiki?

-Anyone wanting to help heal themselves or others
-Those who want to begin or further their spiritual development
-Anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, chronic pain, physical ailments/illness, spiritual or energetic blocks
-Those who want to help heal animals

What makes this course different than other Reiki Trainings?

-Because the course is spread out over multiple weeks, this allows more time to learn the information, practice, and integrate the knowledge and adjust to the new vibration of energy.

-Many Reiki First Degree courses are taught all at once in one day, or in three 1-hour sessions, leaving minimal time to process the new information, ask questions, or receive guidance and additional feedback through the process of attuning to the new energy. This course is spread out over multiple weeks, and equals a total of 8 hours of training, so that at the end of the training all Reiki I practitioners feel confident in their ability to use Reiki energy to heal themselves and others.

-A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on practice. Students receive hours of hands-on experience in class and homework is given to practice between sessions.

-You will receive support in integrating this new vibration of energy. The attunement is given during the 1st class (of two week sessions), and the 2nd class (of four week sessions), so that students have support and guidance built into the class as they adjust to the new energy.

-We emphasize spiritual growth and Reiki healing as a life-long pursuit, and provide many additional handouts, websites, organizations, and other resources for Reiki students to access along the way.

-We also provide individual feedback and guidance throughout the training program.

Upon completing this training, you will have been trained in Traditional Usui Reiki First Degree (Reiki I), and receive your Reiki I attunement and certificate as a Traditional Usui First Degree Practitioner.

Yoga Teachers receive 4 hours of CE Credit through Yoga Alliance.

The fee for this course is $295.

Rest as Transformation

Rest as Transformation

New seasons, new jobs and projects, shifting relationships, journeys toward healing…change is all around us and within us. When change is on the horizon, do you rocket into planning and action? Or do you curl up under the covers? It turns out, your body has the right idea to move in the direction of rest!

We can harness the power of change, no matter how big or small, by learning from the wisdom of rest. Bears hibernate, caterpillars cocoon, seeds nestle and wait patiently in the soil--rest is not a reward for surviving change, but rather a requirement to process it!

This six-week series will utilize the slow and embodied practice of restorative yoga as an approach to understand and enjoy deep and impactful transformation.

Each week, students will be guided through a different phase of the transformation process, and given space to explore these phases through restorative sequences and journaling.

When we create this space for deep rest and inquiry, we are empowered to listen, move, and transform intentionally through the many changes life offers to us all.

Participants are encouraged to arrive 15-20 minutes early in order to settle into the space without rush.

Sound Bath- Halloween Night! Healing Sound, Restorative Yoga, Tibetan Bowls and Planetary Gongs

Join Pati Pellerito and Joy Page for two hours of healing through Sound, Yoga, Meditation, Breathwork and connection to a renewed sense of peace and calm.

As we place our body postures of receptivity, we allow. The layers of tension melt, our busy minds settle and the complexities of life fade into the background. During this session, our bodies will absorb the healing vibrations of sound of the Tibetan Bowls and Planetary Gongs and the energies of breathwork and yogic posture. Through these alchemical processes we shift, our connective tissue and brain waves literally recalibrate toward balance, creativity and ease.

The multitudinous sounds and waves of soothing energy from Tibetan Singing Bowls, Planetary Gongs, and many other percussive and acoustic instruments offer nutrition for the neurological system as well as medicine for the soul. Many describe this experience as transportive, as the sounds encourage a shift in brain wave state to alpha-theta, one that supports a restful and rejuvenating experience.

Join us and leave this experience feeling grounded, clear and fresh.

Teacher Training and Immersion 2020

Wildwood Yoga and Joy of Yoga will be conducting a 200HR Registered Yoga Teacher Training and Immersion for anyone wanting to become a certified yoga teacher or those that would like to immerse themselves into their physical practice and understanding of yoga's history, philosophy and practical application in today's world.

What makes this Yoga Teacher Training distinct is its ability to draw from a wide spectrum of yoga practices, philosophies and techniques. This training promises to deliver intellectually stimulating content, physically empowering practices, and spiritual connection through the cultivation of a daily sadhana practice. Physical strength and flexibility are not requirements to be a yoga teacher. The desire to better yourself and those around you are the requirements for this training.

This training is design to connect you to your inner teacher and guide. This is not a set of prescribed sequences that must be delivered with prescribed speech. It is a map to lead you to that inner wisdom and voice of the teacher within. Intuition, creativity, connection and thoughtful application are the cornerstones of the knowledge and teaching methods you will gain. Teachers will be asked to be accountable and to know why they are designing their classes with a specific sequence of poses, knowing that there is never just one way or one response, but that there is always an authentic and intuitive approach.

As a yoga teacher, we continuously put ourselves in the seat of a student enabling us to hold more compassion and understanding for our students and continuously educating ourselves on the new ideas, fresh perspectives of the Yogic Teachings. Teaching yoga is a great responsibility, one that must be held in the highest regard. To be a yoga teacher is to be a 'Mitra', a friend to all of humanity.

Regardless of where you find yourself in your yoga practice, this training will transform each of us on every level. Welcome to your brand new beginning!

A few reviews on Yoga Alliance from our recent graduates:

"Joy and Jill have poured their hearts and shared wealth of knowledge into this RYT200 training and as a result the program they have created is truly excellent. There are so many compliments I could leave here, but perhaps most relevant is that I believe they have left all of us who completed the program feeling fully prepared to teach and teach well. Beyond the practical, these incredible women have designed a journey full of love, community, kindness, and self-realization through the close study and practice of the ancient tradition of yoga." -Andrea

"Joy and Jill have an incredibly deep well of knowledge and experience that they were so willing to share with my training class, and they brought amazing outside resources to us to round out our learning. For 10 weekends, through their words, their energy, their love of yoga and teaching, Joy and Jill provided a truly supportive space where I learned so much more than just philosophy, alignment, anatomy, meditation, and breath work: they helped me find my voice and the confidence to take it out into the world. The training Joy and Jill have put together will give you so much more than you could hope to expect." -Lindsay

I cannot say enough amazing things about this 200 HR-RYT program!! Joy and Jill are some of the most loving, big-hearted, gifted, smart & capable women that I know. This program will deepen your practice physically, mentally and emotionally. They provide vast knowledge to the trainees on the history and philosophy of yoga; trainees leave this program with a rich, well-rounded foundation to begin their yoga teacher journey. Joy and Jill provide such a safe, nurturing environment that encourages everyone to reach their full potential. You will feel cherished and loved throughout this intense journey. You will finish the 10 months of this journey a much stronger individual. Your heart will be opened, your mind expanded, and your body so well prepared to engage your students in a rich yoga practice. Joy and Jill do a wonderful job of teaching alignment, but more importantly, they share great insight on how to develop a keen eye as you watch your students to see what cues need to be given. They teach you that every body is different, and while alignment is important, it will look and feel differently for each individual. They teach you to see the beauty first and then to provide the guidance that will enable your student to blossom to her/his best self. I am so grateful to Joy and Jill; they have helped shape my entire teacher prospective. I feel so confident in the foundation they so generously offered. I would recommend this program to every aspiring yogi. It will change your life. -Colleen

You can read more reviews here: https://www.yogaalliance.org/SchoolProfileReviews?sid=6793

St. Louis summers are made for turning tunes up as windows roll down, packing a picnic and lawn chairs for a balmy outdoor concert, and dancing barefoot in the grass to your favorite songs. Music and movement go hand in hand, working in our beings as powerful tools to access flow states in our bodies and brains. A skillfully composed playlist can greatly enhance and deepen the physical, mental, and spiritual work we engage in when we practice yoga asana. In this three event summer series with Brianna Owens, she promises to provide the concert feels and the all-hits playlists from three powerhouse musical acts, if you provide the bare feet and willingness to move your body however the music compels you!

Astrology Basics: The 12 Houses

Are you craving a way to learn more about yourself, others, & the life you've created? Astrology is a complex and ancient system of self "seeing".

Learning this system will create validation for who you've experienced yourself to be and your potential to come. Join Astrologist, Aurora Dea Luna, for these classes of soul seeing...The Astrology Basics. Each week we'll learn in depth about a foundational principle of the Zodiac.

The 12 Houses
Like a clock, the Zodiac is divided into 12 segments, or houses. Each house is ruled by a different Sign. The zodiac begins with the first house, and goes counterclockwise around. Each house adds an additional layer of meaning for interpretation. For example, the first house represents the self. The second house represents security and finances.

Each participant will need to come with their accurate natal chart information: time, place, & date of birth. If you don't have your birth certificate or know your time of birth? Don't worry this information can be ordered. Please contact Aurora at DawnoftheMoonApothecary@gmail.com in advance of class.

NEW WEEKLY CLASS: Vitalizing the Meridians through Life Nourishing Movement

NEW WEEKLY CLASS: Vitalizing the Meridians through Life Nourishing Movement

Join Lingli in a new weekly class, starting Wednesday June 19!

What if there are switches in the body we can turn on to feel more alive?

What if there are endless sources of vitality in the body we can actually touch with our hands?

What if the body can be smoothed out in a few simple strokes like a garden hose unfolds to allow water to flow again?

What if movements can relax and nourish the body?

These are some of the gifts offered by the ancient practice of body meridian connection and Qi guided movements.

In Traditional Chinese medicine, Qi is the life energy that infuses living beings and pervades the universe. Like a river of life, Qi flows in our body along pathways called meridians, making us whole, vital, and full of life.

We will nourish and connect with the main sensory organs and the whole body through meridian massage, relax and increase microcirculation to our thinking mind and our busy body.

We will practice part of the 13 Form Life Nourishing Movements. These slow, soft, flowing movements synergize the rhythm of the body with breath and flow of Qi. We will learn to activate the reproductive energy and support spinal health - to rest while in motion and experience calm in action and connect to the wellness and vitality that is already within us.

Preparation: wear loose and comfortable clothing with easy access to the skin of arms and legs. Relatively empty stomach and willingness to be kind to your body.

Summer Solstice

Join us in a fluid, nourishing, gentle and restorative yoga practice, one that will build the container of your being in order to digest and transform any thought, emotion or experience causing unrest in your life. Prepare to leave this celebration shining bright and feeling light like the sun!

Summer Solstice is the culmination of the light of the sun, the longest day of the year. This is maximum light, the light that began to grow in luminosity after the Winter Solstice.

In Western astrology it marks the moment that the sun moves into 0 degrees of Cancer (tropical). Cancer initiates emotional connection. This sign wants to feed, nourish, provide safety, create intimacy and give life. Cancer is The Mother.

When something comes to light, emerges, wants to be acknowledged and brought into our consciousness, we must have a sturdy enough container to let it alchemize within us. The sun is golden light, transformative light, if we let it be.

Reiki Training Level 1

to Jun 24

  • The background and history of Reiki

  • Basic Energy Healing concepts (energy, energy healing, auras, chakras, meridians and nadis)

  • How Reiki Works (including specific scientific studies)

  • How to use Reiki to heal oneself

  • How to use Reiki to heal others (including animals)

  • How to do a Reiki Shower

  • How to Imbue Sacred Objects with Reiki

Who can learn Reiki?

  • Anyone wanting to help heal themselves and others

  • Those who want to begin or further their spiritual development

  • Anyone who experiences stress, anxiety, chronic pain, physical ailments/illness, spiritual blocks

  • Those who want to help heal animals

What makes this course different than other Reiki Trainings?

Because the course is spread out over multiple weeks, this allows more time to learn the information, practice, and integrate the knowledge and adjust to the new vibration of energy.

Many Reiki First Degree courses are taught all at once in one weekend, individually, or in three 1-hour sessions, leaving minimal time to process the new information, ask questions, or receive guidance and additional feedback. This course is spread out over multiple weeks, and equals a total of 8 hours of training, so that at the end of the training all Reiki I practitioners feel confident in their ability to use Reiki energy to heal themselves and others.

A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on practice. Students receive hours of hands-on experience in class and homework is given to practice between sessions.

You will receive support in integrating this new vibration of energy. The attunement is given during the 1st class (of two week sessions), and the 2nd class (of four week sessions), so that students have support and guidance built into the class as they adjust to the new energy.

We emphasize spiritual growth and Reiki healing as a life-long pursuit, and provide many additional handouts, websites, organizations, and other resources for Reiki  students to access along the way. We also provide individual feedback and guidance throughout the training program.

Have you been having a difficult time with listening and mindfully being with those around you?

Have you been attempting to numb anxiety by scrolling, watching tv, eating, drinking?

Have you been struggling with these symptoms of anxiety and don't know what to do or what to change?

Join Brooke Brasfield, LCSW, a Licensed Mental Health Professional and Life Coach for this monthly group on learning how to thrive with anxiety instead of feeling consumed by it. By joining this group you will also...meet other women who have similar struggles with anxiety and are looking for tools and skills to thrive. You will feel completely supported within a safe and confidential group environment. You will learn applicable skills that you can take with you and implement after each group. At the end of each group, you will feel inspired, empowered and supported.
